Today we have with us a 2012 Volkswagen Tiguan and were going to test fitting a Yakima Round Crossbar Roof Rack system. Well be using Q Clips part number Y00683 as well as Q Clips part number Y00716. Well be using Q Towers part number Y00124 as well as a 58-inch crossbars part number Y00409. We already have our roof rack assembled according to the instructions and now were ready to fit it up on the vehicle. Well place our front crossbar assembly up on top of the roof of the vehicle. To position the front bar correctly, we need to measure 11 inches back from the glass to the leading edge of the Q Tower.
Well check this measurement on both sides of the vehicle to make sure our bar is in position. Once weve done that, we can go ahead and adjust the tension with the set screws and lock down the doors. With our front bar in place, we can set our rear bar. Again, well open the driver and passenger side door in the rear and set our rear crossbar up on top of the roof. To position the rear bar correctly, well need to measure from the center of the front bar to the center of the rear bar this measurement is also known as the crossbar spread and we need to set it at 32 inches.
This measurement will also come in handy when youre selecting accessories to use for your roof rack. With the rear bar in place, again, we can set our tension and then close the doors to secure the towers to the roof. With that, our roof racks installed and were ready to start adding some accessories. That does it for our test fit of the Yakima Round Crossbar roof rack system on our 2012 Volkswagen Tiguan.
