Today on our 2012 Nissan Versa, well be test fitting the Yakima Roof Rack System. Well be using their 48-inch crossbars, part number Y00408, the Yakima Q Towers, part number Y00124, and fit kits, part number Y00731 and Y00634. We already have the crossbar assemblies put together according to the instructions so now were ready to mount it up on top of our vehicle. Well take the front crossbar assembly and set it up on top of our roof. To position in properly, well need to measure 15 inches from the edge of our windshield to the leading edge of the Q Tower on both the passenger and drivers side in the vehicle. Once we have our front crossbar assembly positioned on our roof, we can go ahead and start tightening it down.
Well adjust the tension knobs on both the drivers side and passengers side to make sure we have the proper amount of tension on our roof rack. Well close the clamping doors on the Q Towers and then well be able to move on to our rear crossbar assembly. Again, well set the rear crossbar assembly up on top of our roof. To position the rear crossbar properly, well measure 30 inches from the center of the front bar to the center of the rear bar. This measurement is known as the crossbar spread and will also come in handy when selecting accessories to use on top of your new roof rack.
With the rear bar in place, well go ahead and use the same tightening procedures that we did in the front. And with that, our roof rack is installed and were ready to start loading accessories. That does it for our test fit of the Yakima Roof Rack System on our 2012 Nissan Versa.
