Today on this 2011Toyota Corolla were going to do a test fit of a Yakima roof rack system. Were using a 58-inch crossbars and the Yakimas Q Towers for our application. Were going to start with the load bars already preassembled per the instructions. Well start by opening up the doors and well put the crossrails in their proper position. Next well go ahead and line up our bars with the front windshield. In this case were measuring from the edge of the windshield to the leading edge of the Q Tower.
In this case it will be 5 inches, but always refer to your instructions for proper measurements. Next go ahead and load up the second crossbar. This time well be measuring off our first crossbar to position our second one, and the measure well be using will be 32 inches. Once again, make sure theyre even left to right, then we go ahead and start tightening down the clamps to the car. What well do is well take up some slack with the little thumb wheel on the inside.
Now, youll have to go back and forth quite a few times to get it just right. Its going to be a little bit of trial and error, but once you have this set up you can leave it alone and you can easily snap it off and on when you need to. With everything tightened down just go ahead and shut the doors, and the roof racks ready for service. From the base of the Q tower to the top of the crossrail, were looking at added height of five inches. With that, that will finish it for our quick test on our 2011 Toyota Corolla with the Yakima Roof System..
