Today in our 2012 Chevrolet Suburban were going to test fit the Yakima Holdup 2 Hitch Mounted Bike Carrier Part No. Y02433. With our vehicle equipped with the 2-inch hitch and our bike rack already preassembled, well go ahead and slide the bike shank directly into the receiver tube line up the hitch pinholes and install and tighten down our anti-rattle bolt and lock. With our anti-rattle bolt tightened down, you can really see that it takes out any movement between the bike rack shank and the hitch. This is what our bike rack will look like in its stored position. Next, will pull the finger trigger at the base of the rack and tilt the platform down.
Next will take a couple of measurements. Closest point of the platform to the closest point of the vehicle is 9 inches. From the very base of the rack to the ground is 30 inches of ground clearance. Now lets go ahead and check for rear cargo access. As you can see with the platform down we can still gain rear cargo access and utilize the rear storage compartment.
Now lets go ahead and prepare to load our bike. First well bring the front pull down arm up and the wheel cradle to the full upright position then well undo the rear wheel strap so we can set our bike directly into place. Now we can go ahead and set our bike into place then well bring the securing arm up and bring the wheel cradle down just in front of the brake caliper of the front wheel. Then well go ahead and secure the rear wheel with the wheel strap. Now weve got our bike secured in the bike rack.
Once again, well go ahead and pull the trigger finger and tilt the bike rack away from the vehicle and see if we can still gain rear cargo access with our bike loaded. As you can see with this bike rack and this bike, we cannot gain rear cargo access with the bike loaded. Now with our bike rack with the upright loaded position weve gone to secure the bike to the bike rack and the bike rack to the vehicle and were ready to hit the road. With our vehicle already equipped with a 2 inch hitch and our bike rack already preassembled with our 2 inch bushing installed we can slide the bike rack shank directly into the receiver tube of the hitch. Well like up the hitch pin holes and ten install and tighten down the anti-rattle bolt and clip. As you can see with the anti-rattle bolt secured it really takes out any movement between the receiver tube and the bike rack shank. This is what our bike rack will look like in the stored position. Today in our 2012 Chevrolet Suburban were going to do a test fitting the Tow-Ready 4 Hitch Mono Bike Hitch Carrier for 2 inches Hitch Part No. 63124. With our vehicle car equipped with the 2-inch hitch and our bike rack already preassembled , we can slide the bike shrank directly into the receiver tube plank the inch pinch holes and install tightened down our anti-rattle bolt and clip. As you can see with our anti rattle bolt securing the bike rack to the hitch, it really takes out any movement between the bike rack shank and the receiver tube. Now lets go ahead the take a couple of measurements. From the upright of out bike rack to the nearest point of the bumper is 5 inches.
Thule Vertex 4 Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2012 Chevrolet Suburban
Today on our 2012 Chevrolet Suburban we will be test fitting the Thule Vertex 4-Bike carrier part number TH9029. To begin our installation we install the bike rack shank in to the hitch, line up the hitch pinhole and insert our anti-rattle bolt. We can then tighten down with a wrench and that will secure our bike rack to the vehicle and we can go ahead and give you a few measurements. Our ground clearance at the bike rack is 22 inches and from the closest point of the bike rack to the back of the vehicle is 4 inches. Well now go ahead pull the hitch switch at the bottom of the bike rack to tilt it down and we will go ahead and open our cargo door. And as you can see we can gain a full cargo access with this bike rack.
