Review of the Yakima FrontLoader Roof Bike Rack on a 2012 GMC Terrain

On our 2012 GMC Terrain we'll be test fitting the Yakima FrontLoader Wheel Mount Bike Carrier, part number Y02103. Our vehicle is already equipped with the crossbars and our bike rack is preassembled so we're ready to go ahead and fit it to the vehicle. To begin, we'll set the head of the bike rack over the front cross bar. We'll then bring the rear mount of the bike rack to the rear crossbar and secure it. After securing it to the rear crossbar we'll move back to the front crossbar and using the wing nut on the head of the bike rack we'll tighten it down to the front crossbar. That now secures our bike rack to the roof of the vehicle.

We'll now prepare the bike rack to load a bike. We'll raise the front hoop forward and open up the rear tire strap. We can then set our bike on top of the bike rack and roll it forward so that the front tire rear hoop comes in contact with the tire. We'll then tighten down the red knob just behind the front tire to secure the bike to the bike rack. We can then move to the back tire and run the tire strap through tightening it down.

And there you have it, our bike is loaded and we're ready to hit the road. And there you have our test fit of part number Y02103 the Yakima FrontLoader Roof Mounted Bike Rack on or 2012 GMC Terrain.

Thule Domestique Roof Bike Rack Review - 2012 GMC Terrain

Today on our 2012 GMC Terrain, we'll be test fitting part number TH513, the Thule Domestique Fork-Mount Bike Carrier. We'll begin by setting the head of the bike rack directly over the front crossbar. We can then use the clamp to go underneath the front crossbar and bolt it down using the Allen bolts and wrench provided with the bike rack. After tightening down the head of the bike rack, we'll move to the back, bring the clamp around the rear crossbar and secure it again using the Allen bolts included with the bike rack. We can now insert our skewer into the head of the bike rack. And with our skewer installed, we'll undo the rear wheel strap and we're ready to load our bike.

We will start by setting the head of the bike rack over the front crossbar. We can then losely fit the clamp underneath the front crossbar tightening it down with the Allen bolt using the Allen ranch provided with the bike rack and with the front head loosely secured to the front crossbar, we can move on to the rear mount. We will need to remove the insert because we are using a square bar and with the insert removed we will slide it over the rear crossbar line up the carriage bolt from bike rack with hole in the mouth and tighten it down with the wing nut also supplied with the bike rack.

RockyMounts Euro PitchFork Roof Bike Rack Review - 2012 GMC Terrain

Today on a 2012 GMC Terrain we will be test fitting the RockyMounts Euro Pitchfork roof mounted bike carrier part number RKY1103. Now this particular bike rack does use the channel within the load bar so we've already gone ahead and removed the front channel cover from the load bar. We'll now need to simply slide the square block into the channel at the head of the bike rack and line up the rear mount, bringing the clamp underneath the load bar and securing it in place. And with the rear mount of the bike rack secured to the load bar, we will go ahead and move back up to the head of the bike rack, tightening down the two Allen bolts, which will secure it to the front crossbar. We can then install the head cover.
