Today on this 2011 Subaru Forester, we're going to do a test fit of part number Y02426 from Yakima, the FlipSide 4 Bike Carrier. One quick note about this bike rack is that it will work with 1-1/4-inch receiver hitches. However, it can only be in class 2 hitch. This will also work with class 3 receiver hitches with the included spacer. We'll go ahead and start off by installing the rack into the hitch, tightening down the anti-rattle bolt and putting the safety pin on the other side. Now, the bike rack does come with a tool to tighten down the anti-rattle bolt.
However, a wrench may work it better in certain situations. Next, we'll go ahead and give you some measurements that will give you an idea of clearance between the bicycle rack and the vehicle and the bicycle rack and the ground. From the rack to the bumper at its closest point will be 3-1/4 inches and ground clearance looks like 12-3/4 inches. We'll go ahead and tilt the bike rack out of the way and check for access to the back of the vehicle. All right, now we'll go ahead and unfold the arms by activating the switch on top.
We'll undo the straps of the cradles that we're going to use. Make sure that the anti-sway part of the cradle is folded up before you put the bike into place. We'll take the anti-sway part. Swing it down towards the seat tube and strap it in place then we'll do the rest. Take the straps and run over across the top tube.
Okay, in a few steps, our bike is strapped down and ready to go. With that, that will finish it for our test fit of part number Y02426 from Yakima, the FlipSide 4 Bike Carrier, on our 2011 Subaru Forester.
