Alright, today on this 1998 Ford F-250 we are going to install part number TX238601 from TruXedo, their TruXport tonneau cover. Alright, you can see we have our parts all laid out. We have our two side rails here and here, our tonneau cover itself for the front and rear rail, and our clamps and some pads that go in the corners. So we will actually start off with the pads. We are just going to fill this corner right here. It just takes up the gap and keeps it a little more weather tight along the corners. We have one on each side to do. Alright, we will go ahead and take our tonneau cover and we are going to lay it across the front rail towards the cab of the truck. Then we will install one of our side rails. And that just slides right in to the side right here, to this inside track. With the passenger side done we will do the driver side. Now we will even out the side rails on the bed of the truck. Once you have the rails installed, go ahead and slide everything up forward to the cab. Make sure that bottom edge is over the top of the truck here. You might have a little bit of overhang and that will be ok. 1:05
Now we will make sure we get it centered on the bed itself. And then we will go to the back of the truck and line the end of the rails up the same way they are towards the front. Alright, now we will start positioning our clamps. And when we start installing the clamps, we will do the ones towards the front first. And we want to run these as far forward as we can. You can see how the teeth catch on top of the rail here. Make sure they catch just like that. You want to make sure the bottom half sits flat so you want to make sure that everything sits even. Then we will go ahead and just get the clamp finger tight. Do the same thing for the other side. Now let us go to the back of the rails and install the clamps there. And it is the same thing with the back here. Now you want to put it as far as possible, but leave enough room here for some adjustment too. And while we are on this side we will go ahead and place a clamp for the center. Ok, we will go ahead and install the clamps on the other side of the truck. 1:54
At this point we can go ahead and snug down the clamps. The front two clamps are tightened. Unroll the tonneau cover and go ahead and check for fit at the tailgate. We will do a quick test fit. And we need to adjust these rails where there is about 1/8 of an inch play between the tonneau cover and the rail. So we will draw them in on both sides and then recheck. Once we are satisfied with how the tonneau cover latches in the back, we will go ahead and tighten down the clamps. Let us go ahead and roll the tonneau cover back and then place the weather pads on the back rail. Alright, now we will go ahead and close it. It will take some tension to pull it down. Ok, now the tonneau cover is installed. Let us go ahead and show you how to operate it. It is pretty simple. You have a latch on the bottom here that you pull down. Alright, and put your other hand on top because the spring does create quite a bit of pressure there. So just unlatch it so it comes loose and you will do the same thing on both sides. And basically you just roll it back. And then you have a strap back here to hold everything together when you need it rolled up. And there you have it for part number TX238601 from TruXedo.
