Today on this 2012 Ford Fusion, were going to install part number 118422 from Tow-Ready. First thing we need to do, is go ahead and open the trunk and get access to the wiring on the inside. Were going to undo the threshold and uninstall the interior panels. Were going to remove the threshold here by popping up the plastic rivets. One, two, three, four of them. Theres two more rivets underneath the floor mat that wed have to remove.
Now we can just pop up the interior panel. Well loosen the fastener on top, so we get behind the liner. This is one of our connection points for the wiring harness. So were done with the driver side, lets go ahead and repeat the same process on the passenger side.Well go ahead and disconnect a wire harness here and our T-connector will plug in its place. Push down this tab on top here and then take it apart.
Put the T-connector in and snap the two other halves back together. Now were going to take our white wire with the ring terminal and attach to the factory ground right here. Now were going to route our T-connector with the green wire, were going to do the same thing over to the passenger side. Well disconnect the wire harness and put the T in the middle. Next well go ahead and look for a red wire, this will be connected to the black wire here that eventually will get run up to the battery.
Well use a butt connector to attach this two together. Now were going to run our black wire out to the battery and well be using this grommet right here to get outside. Well pop up and put a slit into it and then well go ahead and run the wire through it. Well run the wire through the grommet and then outside. Next well go ahead and attach the module. Well clean up some sheet metal right here and attach it.
With everything in place, now well go ahead and take a few moments and run some zip ties to keep everything together. At this point, well go ahead and start reinstalling the interior components. Now well go ahead and run our black wire up to the battery. Now, when we run it underneath the vehicle, we want to make sure to stay away from anything moving; like the suspension components or anything hot like the exhaust. Same thing applies when going up to the front of the vehicle, but also be aware of the steering components as well. Well go ahead and pull the wire up from the engine compartment and run it out over to the battery. Now well go ahead and cut it short. Then well add our fuse holder. Well cut that in half. Next, well take the fuse holder and cut it in the center and attach a ring terminal to one end and a butt connector to the other. Well attach our black wire to the butt connector and the ring terminal to the positive side of the battery. Now we can go ahead and install the fuse into our fuse holder. Were going to tuck our wires out of the way and well be finished. Now to use the wiring harness, just pull it a little bit and shut the hatch on it. The seal is thick enough where it wont hurt anything and just pull out what you need out to your trailer. With that, thatll finish it for our install of part number 118422 from Tow-Ready on our 2012 Ford Fusion.

It depends on electrical experience and the tools and facilities available. This kit requires a wire to be run up to the battery. With a lift, this job should be under an hour. At home in a garage, it could take as much as 2-3, again dependent on ability. I installed a similar kit on my Escape that took about 1.5-2 hours on my garage floor. The long part is routing the power wire.

Today on this 2010 Ford Fusion we are going to install part number 118422 from Tow Ready. The first thing we need to do is get inside the trunk area of the vehicle and remove some of the interior components. Go ahead and lift the floor and get it out of the way. Next, we need to remove the rear threshold right here. Remove the plastic rivets that hold everything in place. With everything loosened we can pull straight up on the threshold. It should pop loose. :41
