Today on our 2009 Hyundai Sonata, well be installing Tow Ready T1 Connector part number 118433. Well begin by opening the trunk. Now well need to remove the threshold and the fasteners for the interior to expose the wiring for our tail light. To remove the threshold molding, well simply reach under the trim with our trim tool, locate the tabs that are holding it in place and pop them free. Well now move on to the carpet covering the tail light wiring. Well need to pull the threshold molding away from the vehicle as there is a clip up here that holds the carpet in.
We can simply undo the clip then remove the pushpin clips from the vehicle which will allow us to fold the carpet down and away to expose the wiring. Now, our T1 connector will connect into the harness here at this white connector. Well simply unplug the connector. Well then take our T1 connector and plug it in line with the harness. Well also need to locate a point for our ground.
Now our vehicle has a stud and nut here located right next to the connector which will supply as a good ground for this product. And grounding the T1 connector, its always a good idea to find a non-painted surface to connect to. And with our ground secured, we can now take our converter box and find a suitable location and using the double-sided tape provided with the install kit, well expose the adhesive for the converter box and simply attach it to the vehicle. We can then tuck the wiring away and with our driver side complete, we can now move on to the passenger side. Well extend our red and green wire over towards the passenger side and well go ahead and follow the factory wiring harness routing.
There are included with the kit a few zip ties that we can use to attach it to the factory harness. Well just simply clip off the access. Now over here on our passenger side, well need to remove the carpeting cover again and with the passenger side harness exposed, well simply remove the connector and install our harness in line with the passenger side tail light. Well then pull our excess wiring back in behind the carpet giving us a nice fit when the interior carpet is reinstalled. Well now simply reinstall the carpeting and put our trunk opening molding back into place.
With the wiring installed, well go ahead and reassemble the interior components. Well now go ahead and show you how the harness works. Well simply unfold it from out of the trunk and lay it over the threshold here. We can then simply close the deck lid on the wiring harness as the molding will give enough that it will not damage the harness. You do wanna make sure that you stay away from the latch as the latch could damage the harness. And then simply bring it down to your trailer hitch and plug it in to your accessory. And that does it for the install of the Tow Ready T1 Connector part number 118433 on our 2009 Hyundai Sonata.
Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2006 Hyundai Sonata

Today we are going to install part number 118433 from Tow-Ready on our 2006 Hyundai Sonata. The wiring connection points are right behind the tail lights here behind this access panel. And right behind here is the connection point. Take that apart, and the T-1 connector fits in there. You have to route from one side to the other, so this panel has to come loose, this panel has to come loose, and also this panel on the other side will have to come loose. We will take apart our connection point here. We will install the T-1 connector. The yellow side will go to the drivers side. We will install that, and then the factory wire will plug onto the other side on the T-connector. And we have a ground wire here. We will attach that to the factory ground right here. Next, the red wire here will run across to the passengers side of the vehicle. This wire here will get zip-tied to the wire harness going back across.
Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2007 Hyundai Sonota

This part also fits 2007 Hyundai Elantra. The first thing we need to do is open the trunk and take apart some of the interior lining. First well show you one of the access points for the wiring on the passengers side. Just take off this cover here, it unscrews, comes down, and its kind of hard to see but right here at this point is where we take apart the harness and install the T-1 connector. Simply push that button in and it comes apart. Before we can make our connection this panel has to come off and this panel here has to come off because we have to run the wire harness all the way across to the other side. To take off this panel here, theres one plastic rivet on each side of the panel. Once you get those taken out, gently pull up on it on both sides and maybe under here with a pry tool and the whole thing comes apart like that.
