Today on our 2008 Nissan Maxima, were gonna install the Curt T-Connector Wiring Kit part number 56022.Now when we got our spare tire components cleared out, we need to remove the rear threshold and the plastic fasteners that secure the carpeting behind both rear taillights. Now you can see we have the access to the wiring behind the driver side taillight. On the driver side, well take the connector that has the yellow, red and brown wire running to it. Were gonna plug this in line with the manufacturers connection. Press on the locking tab, disconnect the two connection points for the manufacturer, well plug our new harness in line with the manufacturers. Next, were gonna take our white wire with the ring terminal and were gonna ground it back here to the sheet metal. Were gonna go back to this sheet metal because this is where the sheet metal overlaps so itll be a little bit thicker and give us a better grounding point. With our ground wire installed, well go ahead and add our two-way adhesive to the back of our converter box.
Simply peel back the paper on one side, well go ahead and stick to the converter box and well peel back the paper on the other side. What were looking for is a flat, clean surface. Underneath the carpeting behind the taillight is the perfect location. Now we can take our green wiring connector and route it over to the passenger side and make the same connection as we did earlier. With the green wire connector attached, well go ahead and use some black zip ties to secure the green wire. Well just secure it here to the manufacturers wiring. With our connectors to the converter box made, we need to make the connection with the power wire.
Well take the long black wire provided on our install kit and add it to the butt connector coming out of the power wire in the converter box. This wire feed will get run to the vehicles battery. Now were ready to start routing our power wire. To run my power wire, we have several options. One is to run it inside of the vehicle; the other is to run outside of the vehicle. In this application, were gonna run it outside of the vehicle.
But to do that, were gonna have to drill a hole and install a gromit.Alright, with our gromit installed, well go ahead and start feeding our power wire through. With the location we drilled on the trunk pan we actually ended up being able to feed into the vehicles frame. Well push enough down through one of these access holes and were gonna pull our wire through. Now well go ahead and pull the remaining portion of our wire out and run it up to the battery. Be sure to avoid pinch point such as a steering or a suspension, or excessive heat such as exhaust.Alright, with our wire fed up to the engine compartment, well go ahead and pull it up and run it to the battery.
Alright, before we completely secure our wire, what Ive done is line it up to the battery, check my length and cut out the excess but we still need to add the fuse holder. Ill go ahead and strip back the power wire. Well go ahead and prepare our fuse holder. Well cut it in half and strip back both ends of the wire. The fuse holder is gonna get the butt connector that will connect to the power wire, the other end, were gonna add a ring terminal. Well go ahead and tape up our butt connector. With my wire routed and secured, we can go ahead and make our connection to the positive battery terminal. Now weve made our attachment to the battery, we can go ahead and add our fuse to our fuse holder. Well take one more zip tie and secure my fuse holder. With our fuse holder secured, now we can go ahead and take a pair of side cutters, just cut off all the excess from our zip ties and well reinstall our trunk interior.Alright, now that weve completed installing our new 4-Pole Harness, lets go ahead and show you how to use it. Simply pull it out of the trunk where it will be stored, run it down to your hitch or accessory. We can go ahead and close the trunk on it as the well seal is thick enough that it wont harm it but do stay away from the latch coz pinching off of the latch can damage the wire. And there you have it for our Curt T-Connector Wiring Kit part number 56022 on 2008 Nissan Maxima.
