Today in this 2008 Chevy Cobalt we are going to be installing the tow ready T1 connector part number 118407. First, well need to access the rear cargo area. Next, we are going to go ahead and remove the spare tire cover. Now, well need to get access to the wiring behind the taillights. To do this there are two cargo hooks on both sides that will need to be removed. With the cargo hook out of the way, we can go ached and pull the carpeting back to gain access to the rear taillight wiring.
Next well need to disconnect the wiring going to the rear taillight socket. You need to gently pull back on the locking inaudible and remove the connector. Now we can take the yellow and brown wire connector our tow riding harness and plug inline with our manufacturers wiring. Next well take the white wire with the perform terminal attached and ground it here to the body. Well use a self-tapping provided with our install tip.
Now that weve got our connections made here on the drivers side, well go ahead and remove the fasteners carpeting and connection on the passenger side just as we did here on the drivers side. We can go ahead and take the green wire, ride it underneath the threshold back over to the drivers side. Now taking our green wire connector well go ahead and make the connections here on the passenger. Now with our passenger side connection made, with that done we can go ahead and reinstall the carpeting and fastener here on the passenger side. Next Im going to go ahead and take several black zip ties to secure the wiring.
Now to clean up my install look Ill just take a pair of side cutters and cut off the excess from the zip ties. With that done well go ahead and take our floor pole, put it down on a spare tire well and reinstall the carpeting and fasteners here on the drivers side. Next we can go ahead and reinstall the spare tire cover and that will complete the install. Next well go ahead and show you how to use your new floor pole connector. First, well lift up the cover of the spare tire, route the floor pole through the opening of the trunk and down to the hitch or accessory.
I recommend to stay away from the latch as pinching in the latch can damage the wire. However, the weather stripping is thick enough that it wont harm it and we can simply close the trunk on the wire. Then when you are completed using your floor pole connector you can simply roll it up, stick it back in the spare tire wheel and that will complete our demonstration of using your new floor pole connector. And there you have it for our installation of our tow ready T1 connector number 118407 on our 2008, Chevy Cobalt. .
