Today on our 2006 Chrysler Pacifica, were gonna install the Tow-Ready T1 Connector part number 118303. Our first step is to open up the rear cargo door. Next well need to remove both the rear taillight assemblies. Theres two fasteners for each. As we remove the taillight assembly, well need to gently pry it away from the body of the vehicle. As you can see here, theres a fastener underneath and be careful not to break it off.
Now, well go ahead and unlock the red locking tab, press on the connector lock and well remove the connector from the taillight assembly. Well go ahead and set it aside and repeat the same process on the passenger side. Next, were gonna go ahead and pull the grommet back that secures the wire as it comes to the sheet metal and we can access the red power wire and the connector that leads to it. Inside of the body panel well need to remove any tape or foam securing it. Well go ahead and remove that and were ready to start making connections with our new Tow-Ready Connector.
Well take the matching connector with the red wire; plug it directly to the manufacturers wire. Once we have a lock in place, well then lock the connector with the red locking tab. Now in order to feed our wire to the grommet, were gonna take a pair of side cutters and cut a slit into the grommet so we can reinstall it. With that done, we can next go ahead and take the red, yellow and green wire connector and plug in line with the driver side wiring. Once again, well lock them in place and use the red locking tab to lock the connector.
Next, we need to go ahead and mount the converter box. Before we do that, we need to find a clean flat surface to mount it to. Just below the taillight assembly is a good location. Using a little soap and water, we can go ahead and clean off the area before we can mount the converter box. Now well peel back the two-way adhesive and go ahead and mount the converter box.
Next, were gonna take the 4-pole connector and the green and white wire connector and drop them down between the bumper cover and the body of the vehicle. Well then route them underneath the vehicle over to the passenger side and the 4-pole to the hitch. Quick tech tip: youll notice that the fuse holder here for our powered converter box, whenever we have a failure in our system, this is a good access point to check first. Here on the driver side, we can then take a black zip tie and secure our wiring and reinstall the taillight assembly. Now with the driver side reassembled, well go ahead and get underneath and start routing our wires. Now, to get our wires in position, Im gonna use the assistance of an air tube or a pull wire. I can simply take it, feed it from an access point, out the end and attach my wire using some black electrical tape and then pull the wiring into position. Ill go head and start with the passenger side wiring first. As you route your wires into position, you need to be mindful of excessive heat such as the exhaust or moving components such as the steering or suspension. Now with our wire pulled up behind the passenger side taillight assembly, well go ahead and remove the pull wire and repeat the same process with our 4-pole connector only well be taking it to the hitch. As you can see, we got plenty of wire remaining so well use some black zip ties to secure it up behind the bumper. Now here on the passenger side, we have plenty of extra wires so I wanna go ahead and secure the wiring before I reinstall the taillight assembly. Now with our wire secured and connected, well go ahead and reinstall the passenger side taillight assembly. Now, with our particular model, we need to go ahead and add a 20 amp fuse up under the hood. So well go ahead and pop the hood and open up the fuse panel. Now we need to locate fuse position number 10 and insert the 20 amp fuse provided. Now we can go ahead and close the fuse panel and the hood and thatll complete our install of the Tow-Ready part number 118303 on our 2006 Chrysler Pacifica. .
