Today, on a 2005 Chevrolet Impala, we are going to install part number 118512 to be tow ready. The first thing we need to do is go ahead and open up the trunk and get access to the wiring harness. We will have to remove the interior panels and the threshold to get to it. First off, we are going to go ahead and remove the plastic rivets from our cover right here. Next, we are going to remove these 2 fasteners here and here. Now, we are going to remove this fastener right here and this fastener here and then we can go ahead and remove the taillight.
Next, we will disconnect the plug for the taillight. We will pull up on this tab right here and pull it apart. Now, we have the driver side done and now lets go over to the passenger side and do it one more time. Now, I can go ahead and start installing a wire harness. We will take the 4 pull end, drop them behind the bumper cover and out the bottom.
We will also do the same thing with the T-connecter of the green wire. Now, take your T-connector and plug it back into the factory wire harness and your other end will eventually go back to the taillight. Before we do that, we will go ahead and run our white wire to INAUDIBLEterminal to sheet metal for ground. Now, we can go ahead and reinstall the taillight. At this point, we can go ahead and start reinstalling the interior on this side.
Now, take a wire harness with a 4 pull and run it over to the center of the hitch. We are going to run it inside the bumper structure behind the bumper brackets. Now, we are going to leave that alone for now and we are going to go ahead and do the same thing with a T-connector and a green wire. We are going to run that all the way across. Now, we can go ahead and route it up towards the taillight.
We will take our wire harness and plug it into the factory harness and then we will plug this into the taillight. Now, we will go ahead and take a few minutes to go ahead and zip tie our wires to keep them safe and secure and out of the way. With all of our wire zip tied, we are ready to go and that will finish it for our install of part number 118512 from Tow Ready on our 2005 Chevrolet Impala.
Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2012 Chevrolet Impala

Today on our 2012 Chevy Impala we're going to install tow ready T1 Connector part number 118417. First we are going to need to access the rear cargo area. Then our first step will be removing the rear threshold. There are a couple of fasteners that will need to be removed first. Now we are going to get our trim tool or a flat headed screw driver to get underneath the threshold and just pry it up. There's several plastic fasteners underneath threshold still holding it in place.
Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2003 Chevrolet Impala

Today on this 2003 Chevrolet Impala we are going to be installing hard wiring kit 18252. The first thing we need to do is remove the driver side tail light. We are going to undo the tie down screw. Fold back the carpeting in the trunk and as you can see there is three more tail light screws that we are going to be removing and that will pop loose our tail light. Now that our tail light is removed we are going to unplug it and set it out of the way. As you can see these are the wires that we are going to be tapping into. Before we tap into our wires, take the 4-pole and run it down through the bumper and out the bottom. We are going to test our wires to see what function they are going to be. 00:45

Today on this 2002 Chevrolet Impala we are going to install part number 118002 from Tow Ready. This wiring harness is pretty easy to install because everything is going to be available to hook into on passenger side of the vehicle behind the carpet here. I have theses fasteners here just to make it a little easier to get the carpet down. All right and with this wiring harness right here we will go ahead and test each individual wire to find out its function and we will go ahead and make the appropriate connection.
Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2004 Chevrolet Impala

Today we are going to be installing a 4-pole, part number 118002, on a 2004 Chevrolet Impala. OK, we are inside the trunk area, and we want to go ahead and access the wires that we are going to be tapping into for our wiring harness. Those wires are actually located directly behind the tail light assemblies on both sides of the vehicle. In order to gain access to those wires, we are going to need to go inside the trunk area and we will first off need to remove these three screws per side and then pull back our carpeting. And you can actually see there are two more set screws that we are going to need to remove as well. And with all the set screws removed, I can go ahead and pull the tail light assembly off. As you can see, here is our main wiring harness, feeding the drivers side tail light assembly here. We have got three wires here. We have got a brown with white, which is going to be the running light lead that we are going to be tapping into the yellow, which is our left turn and left brake signal and then the black, which is the standard ground. And then what we want to do is to take our yellow wire here off of our wiring harness, and we want to go ahead and we are going to attach it directly to the yellow wire on our tail light assembly.
Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2007 Chevrolet Impala

Today we are going to install part number 118417 from Tow Ready. We are going to install this on a 2007 Chevrolet Impala. To install the T-1 connector, we have to get back behind the tail light assembly here and behind this plastic. We are also going to be taking off the passengers side tail light, too. And this whole panel will just pop up straight vertical. And we are going to take off this other wing nut right here. Now that we have got our tail light loose, we are going to just temporarily disconnect it from the wiring harness. And then this actual plug right here is where our T-1 connector is going to hook up to the vehicle. We will reconnect the T-1 connector back in, and just tuck that back between the bumper fascia and the body. And we are also going to take our 4-pole wire, and we are going to route that straight down, because that is going to come out by the hitch itself. Make sure to leave that ground wire, because we are going to attach it to the sheet metal below the tail light. And we will just clip our original wire harness back on.
