Today on this 2000 Mitsubishi Montero sport were going to install part number 119175KIT. First thing we need to do is open the back hatch and remove the two tail lights. Now Ill need to remove some interior components so we can get access to the wiring harness. Well remove the tray at the bottom and then the threshold. Then well remove the track thats located on the drivers. Then we can pull the panel back a little bit to give us some more working room.
Well take the module and install it behind the interior panel and onto the sheet metal behind it. Then well take our wires with the yellow, white, red, and brown and well run it through the grommet from the inside out. Well make a hole in the grommet so we can bring our wires through and now we can go ahead and start connecting our wires. First off well need a ground so well take the white wire at the ring terminal and ground that to the body. Then well go ahead and start looking for our left turn signal.
When we find the wire well make our connection with the quick splice connector. Well use the tester that comes with the kit. Well attach our ground lead to the ground we just made and well look for our left turn signal. Well probe the ends of the wire and it looks like green and blue wire with silver bands is our left turn signal. Well take our quick slice connector and well run our yellow wire for a left turn to the left turn signal wire on our vehicle.
Itll be yellow to blue and green with silver bands. Now do the same thing for running light circuit. It looks like our running light circuit will be green with a white stripe and silver bands. Well connect our brown wire from the module to that wire. Now well go ahead and look for brake signal wire.
Our brake signal looks like an all green wire with silver bands. Well connect the red wire to that wire. Now well take our green wire and well route that over to the other side to the passenger side tail light. Well also take the four pole wire and route that towards the center underneath the plastic. Now it looks like our green wire is not going to be long enough for this application so well go ahead and just add an extra length of wire and continue on to the passenger tail light. Now its not as easy to get to the wiring harness as it is on the drivers side. Well push the wire in as far as we can and then we use a stiff wire with a hook on it to help pull out our green wire. Well make a hole in the grommet and pull our wires through. Then well go ahead and look for our red turn signal, it looks like our right turn signal will be green with a yellow stripe and silver bands. Well connect our all green wire to that wire. Thatll finish it for our electrical connections. Now well take our tester and go ahead and check the four ports and make sure everything is working properly. When everythings working fine we can go ahead and reinstall the interior panels. When we reinstall the panels and the bottom tray we want to make sure we keep the four pole wire out so that way were not using it we can store it in the tray and when we do need to use it we can pull it out to the trailer. Now we have all our interior components reinstalled well go ahead reinstall the tail lights as well. Well take our four pole harness and hide it in the compartment on the drivers side. Now its all finished well go ahead and show how to use it. Very easy, pull the wire out the compartment and pull it out of the hatch and go ahead and shut the hatch on the wire. The weather strip I s thick enough it wont hurt the wire when it is shut, make sure you stay away from the latch in the center. Just pull it down to your trailer hitch and youre ready to go. Thatll finish it for our install part number 119175KIT on our 2000 Mitsubishi Montero sport.
Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2003 Mitsubishi Montero Sport

Today we are going to install part number 119175 from Tow Ready, and this is their Circuit Protected Converter Wire Harness. And we are going to install this on a 2003 Mitsubishi Montero Sport. To install this wire harness, we are going to have to get behind both sets of tail lights on this vehicle. We are going to take off the tail lights, get to the wiring behind them, and then we will make our hard-wire connections to the circuits themselves. We will just go ahead and take the lights off loose. The reason why we are taking the lights off is so we can find the function of each wire inside here, rather than just poking a bunch of different holes in the wire. So it saves a little bit of wear and tear on the wire. Next we will take some bolts out and loosen up the fascia so we can run our wires from below up through here, along the edge of the body work and into the tail light.
Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2003 Mitsubishi Montero Sport

Today we are going to install part number 119175, the protected tail light converter, and we are going to install this on a 2003 Mitsubishi Montero Sport. We are going to tap in behind the tail lights. I am going to take this off, and then we are going to run a wire on the outside here, underneath the bumper cover. And this is where the converter box will hide, underneath here. All right, the next thing we are going to do is pull this bumper cover away from it. We are just going to use a simple brake tool and just work our way behind it, just enough where you can run a fish wire through there and out the bottom.
