Today on our 2013 Chevy Silverado well be installing the Curt Hitch part number 13301. This is what our hitch will look like once its installed. Next, well go ahead and give you a couple of measurements to assist you with selecting accessories for your new hitch. From the center of the hitch pin hole to the outer most edge of the bumper is 4 inches. From the top of the receiver tube to the ground is 18-1/2 inches. This will assist you with selecting accessories such as a draw bar, a bike rack or a cargo carrier.
Now lets go ahead with the installation. Note weve already gone ahead and lowered and removed the spare tire for the ease installation of the new hitch. Next, well go ahead and point out the attachment points. Well have a total of six attachment points, three in each frame rail. This will be our forward, center, and rear attachment point.
As you can see, well need to remove the manufacturers bolt for the rear attachment point. Well go ahead and set those aside as they will not be reused. With the manufacturers bolt removed were now ready to go ahead and install the hitch. Our new fastener for the rear attachment point into the manufacturers weld nut will be the new 14-mm bolt with a 9/16-conical tooth washer with the teeth of the washer facing the hitch. Its a good idea to get an extra set of hands to help you hold the hitch while you install the fasteners.
Now we have those threaded in finger tight, it will assist us in holding the hitch while we install the center and forward fasteners. These will be the 1/2-inch carriage bolt and block along with a 1/2-inch flange nut. Well simply put the carriage bolt through the block down through the frame and through the hitch and then secure it with a 1/2-inch flange nut. Keep in mind, each process we do here on the drivers side will get repeated identically on the passengers side. Now with all our hardware in place we can go ahead and tighten it down.
Next, well go ahead and torque to specifications as indicated in the instructions. Now with all our fasteners torqued to specification that will complete the install of our Curt Hitch part number 13301 on our 2013 Chevy Silverado.
