How to Install a Trailer Hitch on a 2012 Nissan Frontier

Today in our 2012 Nissan Frontier, we'll be installing the draw tight hitch part number 75282. This is what our hitch will look like once it's installed. Now we'll go ahead and give you a couple of measurements to assist you in selecting accessories for your new hitch. From the center of the hitch, pin hole to the out most edge of the bumper is 3-1/2 inches. From the top of the receiver, tube to the ground is 17-1/2 inches. This will assist you in selecting accessories such as a draw bar, a bike rack or a cargo carrier.

Now lets go ahead with the installation. We have a total of six attachment points. There will be weld nuts in the frame, three on the drivers side and three on the passengers side. Before we put our hitch in place will want to go ahead and clean out the weld nuts because over time theyll build up with rust, dirt and debris. To clean out the weld nuts, well be using a half inch nylon tooth brush, part number 814092 and spray lubricant.

Well go ahead and start with the rear most fasteners on the drivers side. Now once we have it cleaned out well go ahead and take one of a new bolt and thread it in just to make sure its going to go nice and easily. Now with that done well go ahead and repeat the same process with the other five attachment points. Each process we do hear on the drivers side is going to get repeated identically on the passengers side. Now with all six attachment points cleaned out we are ready to go ahead and put our hitch in place.

Well be using the new ten millimeter bolt, lock washer and flat washer. Now we are ready to put our hitch in place. Its good idea to get an extra set of hands to help you hold the hitch while you install your fasteners. Now with all our fasteners in place well go ahead and tighten them down. We once have all the fasteners tightened down we can go ahead and torque the specifications as indicated in the instructions.

With all of our fasteners torque to specifications, this is going to complete the install of our draw tight hitch part number 75282.

Trailer Htich Installation - 2016 Nissan Frontier - Draw-Tite

Today on our 2016 Nissan Frontier, we're going to take a look and show you how to install the Draw-Tite Max-Frame custom fit trailer hitch receiver. This is a Class III hitch offering the 2 inch by 2 inch opening. The Part Number is 75282. Here's what our hitch is going to look like installed. As you can see visually, you've got your safety chain connection points and your receiver tube opening there that you can see, and then you'll see that cross tube a little bit as we run across here. Now that we've got our 2 inch by 2 inch receiver tube opening, this is going to work out really well for your cargo carriers, ball mounts, bike racks, whatever needs you might have, and a reinforcement collar around the end here. It's got kind of more of the rounded edge to it, and it will be tucked in behind our bumper just a little bit here, so I don't think we'll have to worry about bumping into it with our knees or anything like that. You'll see the double pin holes here on the side.

Trailer Htich Installation - 2016 Nissan Frontier - Hidden Hitch

Today, on our 2016 Nissan Frontier, we are going to take a look at and show you how to install the Hidden Hitch - Custom Fit - Class III Trailer Hitch Receiver, part number 87539. Right here is what our hitch is going to look like installed. As you can see, visually you have got your safety chain connection points and your receiver tube opening there that you can see. Then, you will see that cross tube a little bit as we run across here. Now that we have got our 2-inch by 2-inch receiver tube opening, this is going to work out really well for your cargo carriers, ball mounts, bike racks, whatever needs you might have. Reinforcement collar around the end here. It has got kind of more of the rounded edge to it. It will be tucked in behind our bumper just a little bit here.

Today in our 2016 Nissan Frontier we're going to take a look at and show you how to install the Curt Custom Fit Class III Trailer Hitch Receiver. Part number is 13241. Here's what the hitch is going to look like installed. You're going to see a receiver tube opening here. This is going to be just inside the back edge of the bumper, which is nice. You don't have to worry about bumping into it. Then we're going to have our cross tube.

Best 2016 Nissan Frontier Hitch Options

Today we're going to be taking a look at the best hitches available for the 2016 Nissan Frontier, and we're going to show you the differences between them. To start it here at the top, we've got the Draw-Tite. This is a Class III 2-inch hitch, part number is 75282, we've got its twin sister here by Hidden Hitch, part number is 87539, and then we've got the Curt Class III 2-inch opening hitch as well. Part number on this is 13241. Now each of our hitches offer us the 2-inch opening. Some of the differences that you'll notice right away are going to be the safety chain connection points. As you see with the Curt here, it uses the rolled bar kind of a style, and once you get into the Draw-Tite or Hidden Hitch, more of a bracket or a plate style. Now these look like they'd be a little more of a challenge for getting your safety chains connected and things like that, so you might want to keep that in mind if you're using smaller safety chain connectors, whereas with the Curt, there should be no real issue. The Curt has a standard 5/8th inch pin hole, just like our Hidden Hitch and our Draw-Tite.
