Today on our 2012, Mazda CX9, well be installing Hidden Hitch, part number 87438. To begin our installation, well point out the well nuts here in the frame rail. There are three on each side. We can then loosely install each of the six fasteners.

With all our fasteners in place, we can now tighten them down and torte them to specification as indicated in the instructions. Thatll complete our installation of Hidden Hitch, part number 87438 on our 2012 CX9.

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2012 Mazda CX-9 - Curt

Today on our 2012 Mazda CX9 well be installing Curt hitch, part number 13575. Now before we put our hitch into place well go ahead and point out the attachment points here on the frame. Well be using these three large holes here as well as this smaller hole here. Were now ready to raise our hitch into position. Itll be a good idea to get an extra set of hands to help you hold the hitch up while you install your hardware. Now the hardware well be using is the M12 by 125 hex bolt as well as the half inch conical tooth washer, making sure that the teeth of the washer face the hitch.

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2010 Mazda CX-9

Today on this 2010 Mazda CX-9 we are going to install part number 87438 from Hidden Hitch. This will also apply to part number 75531 from Draw-Tite. Shown here we have the hitch already installed on the vehicle. From the top of the receiver opening down to the ground is going to be 13-7/ 8 inches. From the center of the hitch pin hole to the outside edge of the bumper is going to be 5 inches. Next we are going to show you how it got there. First off we will show you where the hitch mounts up onto the vehicle. There are going to be three threaded holes in the frame and it is going to be a pretty simple install. 00:33

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2009 Mazda CX-9

All right, today we are going to install part number 13575 from Curt, and we are going to install this on a 2009 Mazda CX-9. First, we are going to show you where the hitch mounts up. The hitch is going to be installed on the side of the frame using these threaded holes already existing in the frame. It is going to use four of them. And it is going to be identical on both sides. So basically, what we are going to do is slip the hitch up over the heat shield, put it into place, and just install our bolts. Now, the spare tire is here, but it looks like there is plenty of room to work with it. But, if you want, take down the spare tire to give you a little bit of extra working room, and you will have plenty of room to put the spare tire back up when you are done. We will go ahead and install our hitch.

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2008 Mazda CX-9

Today we are going to do an install on a 2008 Mazda CX-9. And we will use part number 87438. When we install the hitch, we are going to use three attachment points on each side of the frame. It is going to go one here, here and here. We will point the hitch up and flip it over the exhaust here. It will drag a little bit. And then have an extra hand to hold the other side up to thread the bolts in. This back one may be a little difficult to get in. So we may have to push up on the hitch to get it to go. Alright, now that we have our hitch in a temporary position, we will go ahead and check to to make sure there is no binding against the plastic. Most of the time, the plastic will touch the hitch. When you run into a situation like this, it is pretty normal. But sometimes the holes have leeway back and forth or left to right, depending on the orientation. On this one, we can actually move it pretty far back. And now we have about 1/8 of an inch clearance which is perfect. But again, if it touches that is OK too. And the next thing you need to do is tighten down the bolts and put our torque on to them. Alright, it looks like our hitch will cross over to the 08 model with no problems whatsoever. And that will be it for our hitch.
