Today on this 2012 Dodge Ram 1500 were gonna install Hidden Hitch part number 87530. Here are a couple of measurements thatll assist you with selecting accessories for your new hitch, from the center of the hitch pinhole to the outermost point of the bumper is 2 and a half inches, from the top of the receiver tube to the ground is 19 and a half inches. Now lets go ahead with the installation. Our first step we need to remove the center bumper cap, we push them underneath, we can just dislodge it from its position. Next were gonna go ahead and put our hitch in position and secure it with our 3 quarter inch and conkle tooth washer, the bolt and washer will drop in from the top. The hitch is gonna come from the underneath with the rear flange going above the chrome piece of the bumper.
Well drop our bolt and washer into place. Next were gonna take our 3 quarter inch lock nut set in to position above the tube of the hitch, with the nut in position, well go ahead and thread the 3 quarter inch bolt into it this will hold our hitch in place. Next well go ahead and install our forward fasteners here in the rear, well take our pull wire supplied in our install kit, go into our attachment point into our bumper tube and out the end of the tube, now with access to our pull wire, were gonna go ahead and install our inch by 3 inch block and our half-inch carriage bolt, well thread the carriage on the end of our pull wire. Now we can feed them both up into the bumper tube, once into the tube we can pull them in into position. Once there are in position, we can go ahead and remove the pull wire, quick tech tip: I recommend to keep a little side pressure on your hardware so that it doesnt fall back into the bumper tube.
Now we can secure it with our conkle tooth washer with the teeth of the washer facing the hitch and a half-inch nut. Now we can go ahead and repeat that same process on the passenger side. Now with all our fasteners in place we can go ahead and tighten them down. Now with our fasteners tighten down we can go ahead and torque into specifications as indicated in the instructions. Alright now with all our fasteners torque to specifications we can go ahead and install the new center cap provided in our install kit, its just over the 3 quarter inch bolt head and with our center cap installed that will complete the installation of our Hidden Hitch part number 87530 on our 2012 Dodge Ram 1500.
