Today in this 2012 Dodge Journey we are going to install part number 87487 from hidden hitch. This would be the hitch looks like once it is installed on the vehicle next well give you some measurements to help you out selecting some accessory such as a ball mount, a bicycle rack or a cargo carrier from the center of a hitch pin hole to the outside edge of the bumper is going to be about 1 inch from the top of the receiver opening down to the ground between 14 and 5/8 inch now we go ahead and show you how the hitch to install. First thing we needed to do is go ahead and lower the exhaust well spray down the rubber hanger with some lubricant because we go ahead and remove them. well move this ground strap for our tube. We also run a strap underneath the car to cradle the exhaust while we lower it. And since this is kind of a close quarters work and you can pry them off but maybe easier if you go ahead and get the correct tool to remove the hangers with.

First step is go ahead and install our hardware to this whole right here, we can push it in from the side and keep the block on the bolt to stay all together now we are going to install the handle that attach that point back here. Were going to take our handle nut and just kind of judge on how far we need to go back from our access hole and well just bend it. When done in the passenger side repeat the same process on the driver side now this base is place between the hitch and the frame for us to put over the hole and use some tape just to hold them in place while we install the hitch.
Theyll be another space to just like it that to go underneath. Just point wing go ahead and install the hitch and you definitely want to have an extra set of hands to help hold them in position while you get the hard work installed. Now we take our wedge and it will be facing the opposite way on the first one and then our conical tooth washer and nut now at this point we can go ahead and tighten down all the hardware once we have everything hand tighten we can go ahead and tort it down as what said in the instruction. At this point we can go ahead reinstall the exhaust dont forget to reinstall your ground strap to your exhaust and were finish.
