Today on this 2012 Dodge Caravan we are going to install Draw Tite hitch part number 75579. Here are a couple of measurements that will assist you with selecting accessories for your new hitch. From the center of the pin hitch hole to the outer most bumper is 6-1/4 inches. From the top of the receiver tube to the ground is 12-1/2 inches. Now lets go ahead with the installation. Before we even want to install our hitch, we are going to lower the exhaust to give ourselves some more working room on the passengers side.
To lower the exhaust, I am just going to remove the exhaust hanger bolts. We will do the forward hanger, just behind the muffler, on the tail pipe. We have a total of 2 fastening points on the passengers side, and 3 on the drivers side. Now we are ready to go ahead and put the hitch into place. You want to feed the passengers side in up over the exhaust, and then bring the drivers side up to the frame.
Theres our three fasteners on the drivers side, we will repeat the same process for the two fasteners on the passengers side. Now with all of our fasteners installed we can go ahead and tighten them down. With all of our fasteners tightened down, we can go ahead and tork to specifications as indicated in the instructions. We can go ahead and install our loom around the air conditioning line.
With the loom installed we can go ahead and reinstall our exhaust. That completes the installation of our Draw Tite Hitch part number 75579 on a 2012 Dodge Caravan. .
