Kia Soul Trailer Hitch

Installation of a Trailer Hitch on a 2011 Kia Soul

Today on this 2011 Kia Soul, we're going to install part number 24839 from Draw-Tite. This will also apply to part number 60256 from Hidden Hitch. This is what the hitch looks once installed. Next, we'll give you some measurements that will help you out in selecting some accessories. And from the center of the hitch pinhole to the outside edge of the bumper is going to be 5-1/4 inches. From the top of the receiver opening down to the ground on this particular car, we're going to be looking at a measurement of 9-1/2 inches.

Now, we'll go ahead and show you how the hitch is installed. First off, we're going to lower the exhaust and get out of the way for some more working room. We're going to spray the exhaust hanger with some lubricant and then remove it so we can spit it out of our way. That just gives a little more flexibility. That could be more if there's one behind the exhaust if you want to remove that as well.

Alright, our next step is to go ahead and remove them, the inside fender well and if there's a mud flap, remove that on the outside edge of the fender well. With the fender well moved out of the way, we can get access to our bolts that are on our tied down bracket there on the side of the frame. One more fastener is behind the tire if you want to remove it completely. Now, to get access to bolts, we'll go ahead and remove them as well as the two tube frame bolts on the bottom of the tied down bracket and remove those as well. At this point, we can go ahead and put the hitch up onto the vehicle.

It's a good idea to get an extra set of hands to help you do this. You're going to take the crossbar of the hitch and ride it over the exhaust and then up onto the side of the frame. It's a good idea to get two forward bolts in first and then swing the hitch up to line up the last two bolts in the sides. Alright, for our hardware in place, we'll go ahead and snug down all the bolts and then torque them down as specified in the instructions. Our hitch is installed.

Let's go ahead and reinstall the fender well liners and reattach the exhaust. And there you have it for part number 24839 from Draw-Tite.
