Today on our 2011 Kia Sorento we're going to install the Hidden Hitch, part number 90212. Here's what our hitch will look like once it's installed. Next, I'll go ahead and give a couple of measurements to assist you with selecting accessories for your new hitch. From the center of the hitch pin hole to the outer most point of the bumper is 3-1/2 inches, from the top of the receiver tube to the ground is 11 inches. This will assist you with selecting accessories. Now let's go ahead with the installation.
Alright, before we can install our hitch, let's go ahead and identify our attachment points. We have two on each side. Each attachment point is a weld nut in the frame. So before we go in and install our hardware, we're first gonna take some spray lubricant and spray each one of the attachment point. Each process we do here on the driver's side we'll repeat it identically on the passenger's side.
Then, using a half inch Nylon Tube Brush, part number 814092, we're going to go ahead and clean out the weld nuts. This will help clean out any dirt, dust or debris that has built up over time. The older the vehicle the more debris is going to be built up inside of these weld nuts. Alright, here's a quick tech tip. Now that we've got the weld nuts cleaned out, I'm going to go ahead and take one of the new 10-mm bolts and go ahead and thread it in to the weld nut just to make sure it will go in smoothly.
Now we're ready to go ahead and put our hitch in place. To attach our hitch we'll be using the new 10-mm weld nut and a 7/16 conical tooth washer. Now with the weld nuts cleaned out we're ready to go ahead and install the hitch. It can be easier to use an extra set of hands or if you put the passenger's side up first resting the hitch on the exhaust and then install your fasteners on the driver's side. I recommend you install each of your fasteners finger tight until you get them all in place.
Now let's go ahead and tighten our fasteners down. Once we have our fasteners tightened down we'll go ahead and torque to specifications as indicated in the instructions. With all our fasteners torqued to specifications that will complete the install of our Hidden Hitch, part number 90212 on our 2011 Kia Sorento.
