All right today on this 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe, we're going to install part number C13073 from Curt. This is what the hitch looks like when it's installed on the vehicle. Next, we'll give you some measurements that will help you out in selecting some accessories such as a ball mount, a bicycle rack, or a cargo carrier. From the center of the hitch pin opening to the edge of the bumper is going to be 4-1/2 inches. From the top of the receiver opening down to the ground is going to be 15 inches. Now, we'll go ahead and show you how the hitch is installed.
First step is to go ahead and lower the exhaust. There will be three rubber hangers that we have to remove. We'll spray them down with some lubricant and then we'll go ahead and remove them. Now, we're going to take one additional step with the exhaust. We're actually going to loosen up the tube bolts and the clamp for the muffler and tail pipe.
Basically, we're just going to remove the exhaust and muffler just to give it a little bit better view of whats going on inaudible 0:00:48.3. You dont have to do this, but this actually gives us a lot more room to work with. With the exhaust lowered and out of the way, we can go ahead and remove the heat shield. There will be three nuts and one screw we have to loosen up. We got to cut out an 8-inch section of the heat shield, put it lengthwise and then cut across and then we'll go ahead and reattach the heat shield.
And now, I'm going to show you the three attachment points on each side of the frame, two on the bottom and there's that's going to the side of the frame. Before we install our hardware, we're going to spray down the threaded holes in the frame and make sure everything is cleaned out inside. We'll run a bolt in and out a couple of times where we'll install our hitch. Now, there's more dirt and debris inside. We can use a tube brush and we can use part number 814092 to help clean up the threads.
At this point, we can go ahead and lift our hitch up into position. It may be a good idea to get an extra set of hands to help hold it up while you install the hardware. Now, we'll install the hardware going to the bottom of the frame first and make sure that the conical toothed washers with the teeth will point up towards the hitch. Next, we'll go ahead and run the hardware into the side of the frame. Now, we'll orient these bolts from the inside out, put a flat washer on the inside, and then the lock nut on the other side. With all our hardware installed, we'll go ahead and tighten down the bolts and then torque them down as specified in the instructions. Then we'll go ahead and reinstall the exhaust and then that will finish it for our install. And there you have it for part number C13073 on our 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe.
