Today, we have a 2011 Hyundai Accent and were going to show you how to install a trailer hitch step by step. We have a Hidden Hitch 1-1/4-inch Hitch, part number 60819. Before we get started with our installation, were going to give a couple of measurements that will be useful when selecting accessories to go with your hitch. From our hitch pinhole to the outermost part of our bumper, it measures 5-1/4 inches. Our height measurement from the ground to the top of the inside of the receiver tube measures 10-3/4 inches. Now, we can get started with our installation.
First one we need to do is identify the locations where were going to attach our hardware. On the outward side of the frame where were here on the drivers side, theres a hole here and inside theres a weld nut, same with this hole here and these are going to be our attachment points for the flange on the drivers side. On this particular vehicle, things were the exact same on the passengers side, so on the other side of the frame well use the same outward weld nuts for our attachment points. At our attachment points, were going to use this as our hardware. Weve got a bolt, a split lock washer, and a flat washer.
Well take our bolt, slip on our split lock washer, slip on our flat washer, and thats the hardware assembly that were going to use to mount our hitch. Before we mount our hitch, were going to take some penetrating lubricant and a wire brush like part number 814092 and clean out the threads. This vehicle has an underbody spray on it so its probably got some gunk in the threads and were going to make sure its cleaned out before we mount our hitch. Next, well take one of our bolts and just run it through the threads to make sure were ready to go. Next, well move to the passengers side and do the same over there.
Now, were ready to lift our hitch up into position. You might want to get a second set of hands to help you hold it up into place while you start your hardware. Well have to snake the passengers side up and over the exhaust for theres plenty of room and we wont actually have to lower it. With our hitch into position, we can start our bolts and the weld nuts. Now, with all of our hardware started, we can go ahead and run it down.
We have all of our hardware tightened down. The last thing we need to do is torque the bolts down to the specifications indicated in our instructions. And that does it for our Hidden Hitch installation, part number 60819, on our 2011 Hyundai Accent.
