Today on our 2011 Honda Odyssey well be installing the Curt Hitch part number C12031. This is what our hitch will look like once its installed. Next, well go ahead and give you a couple measurements to assist you with selecting accessories for your new hitch. From the center of the hitch pin hole to the outer most edge of the bumper is 4-1/2 inches. From the top of the receiver tube to the ground is 12-3/4 inches. This will assist you with selecting accessories such as a draw bar, a bike rack or a cargo carrier.
Now lets go ahead with the installation. To begin our install well first need to remove the underbody trim panel in the drivers side. Well go ahead and set this aside as it will not be reinstalled. To do this, well remove the multiple fasteners that hold it in place. Now with that removed, it exposes the frame here on the drivers side and we can go ahead and point out the attachment points.
The two rear frame weld nuts will be the center and rear attachment point for our hitch and this predrilled hole here closest to the access hole will be our forward attachment point on the drivers side. On the passengers side well only be using the two rear weld nuts as our forward and rear attachment points making a total of five attachment points for this hitch. Before we attempt to install the hitch were going to want to clean out the weld nuts. We use a little spray lubricant and a 1/2-inch nylon tube brush part number 814092 to thoroughly clean out the treads of the weld nut because over time it will build up with dust, dirt and debris. Now with the weld nut cleaned out we can go ahead and install our carriage bolt and block using the pull wire provided with our install kit for our forward attachment point here on the drivers side.
Well simply take our pull wire go through the attachment point and out the access hole. Then we can slide on our block, push it up into the frame and thread on our carriage bolt and pull it into position. Well go ahead and leave the pull wire on the carriage bolt as it will make it easier to put our hitch up into position without pushing our hardware back up into the frame. Now were ready to go ahead and install the hitch. Well feed the passengers side up over the exhaust first and then bring the drivers side up into position feeding our pull wire through the hitch.
Then well go ahead and take our bolt and conical toothed washer and thread them into the weld nuts here on the drivers side. Next well go ahead and repeat the same process on the passengers side. Now we can go ahead and remove the pull wire and install our flange nut securing the carriage bolt. With all five attachment points in place we can go ahead and tighten them down. Next well go ahead and torque to specifications as indicated in the instructions. And that will complete our install of our Curt Hitch part number C12031 on our 2011 Honda Odyssey.
