Today on our 2011 Dodge Ram 1500 were going to install Hidden Hitch part number 87530. Heres some measurements that will assist you with selecting accessories for your new hitch. From the center of the hitch pin hole to the outermost point of the bumper is two and a half inches. From the top of the receiver tube to the ground is 20 inches. Now lets go ahead with the installation. Weve already gone ahead and removed the spare tire.
Next we need to remove the bumper ball mount cap. Were simply going to take a flat-bladed screw driver, get underneath the cap so that we can remove it. Now we can take our three-quarter inch bolt and conical tooth washer with the teeth of the washer facing the bumper and drop them through the bumper hole. Now we can go ahead and slide our hitch into position. Then well go ahead and slide the three-quarter inch lock nut into place.
Well go ahead and finger tighten the three-quarter inch bolt to hold our hitch in place. Now we need to go ahead and install the hardware for our two forward fasteners. Our two forward fasteners are here, forward to the hitch, just in front of the bumper bar. Were taking our pole wire which is supplied with our install kit, feeding them through these attachment points to the outer end of the tube of the bumper bar. Once our pull wire is in position well go ahead and take our 1 inch by 3 three inch block and our half-inch carriage bolt and well slide the block onto our pull wire and thread on our bolt.
Now well go ahead and slide both of them up into the bumper bar too, pulling them into position with our pull wire. With that in place Ill go ahead and remove the pull wire and well install the conical tooth washer with the teeth of the washer facing the hitch and our half-inch nut. Again well just go hand tight till we get all fastener in place. Now well go ahead and repeat the same process for the passengers side. With all of our fasteners installed well go ahead and tighten them down.
With all of our fasteners tightened down well go ahead and torque to specifications as indicated in the instructions. With all our fasteners torqued to specification we can go ahead and reinstall the spare tire and that will complete the installation of our Hidden Hitch part number 87530 on our 2011 Dodge Ram 1500.
