Today on our 2011 Chevy Silverado, we're going to install Hidden Hitch, part number 87186. Here's what our hitch will look like once it's installed. Now, we'll go ahead and give you a couple of measurements that will assist you in selecting accessories for your new hitch. From the center of the hitch pinhole to the outermost point of the bumper is 3 inches. From the top of the receiver tube to the ground is 18-3/4 inches. Now, let's go ahead with the installation.
We'll go ahead and raise the vehicle and remove the spare tire. This will make it easier to get out hitch in place. Now, we need to remove two rear frame fasteners, one on each side. We're going to hang on to these fasteners as we'll reuse these to install the hitch. Now, we're ready to go ahead and put our hitch up in place.
It's a good idea to get an extra set of hands to help you hold the hitch while you install your fastener. We'll start with the two manufacturer fasteners that we just removed. This will be our rearmost attachment point on our hitch. I recommend installing your fasteners finger tight until you get them all in place. Each process we do here on the passenger's side, we're going to repeat identically on the driver's side.
Now with our rearmost fastening point in place, we'll go ahead and install the center and forward attachment point. To do this, we're going to be using a block and 1/2 inch carriage bolt. We'll go ahead and put our carriage bolt to the block then we're going to feed the block down through the frame and through the hitch. Underneath, we'll install a conical toothed washer with the teeth of the washer facing the hitch. And then to secure it, we'll be using a 1/2-inch nut.
We'll go ahead and use the same hardware setup for the center attachment point also. Alright, and now with all of our fasteners installed, we'll go ahead and tighten down the hitch. With all of our fasteners tightened down, we'll go ahead and torque it to specifications as indicated in the instructions. With all of our fasteners torqued to specifications, that will complete the install of our Hidden Hitch part number 87186 on our 2011 Chevy Silverado.
