Before we can install our hitch, well need to lower the exhaust. Before I do that, Im go ahead and take my safety strap and route it underneath the exhaust. So we can control how far and fast the exhaust will fall. To lower the exhaust, well take a little spray lubricant and spray each of the four hangers that well need to remove. But we got one on the passenger side, two on the driver side and one of the exhaust pipe just behind the differential.
Next, on most applications, they're be a piece of plastic trim between the bumper fascia and the bumper beam. Youll need to remove the two plastic push pens to remove this inside trim piece. For our application, this trim piece has already been removed. Next, lets go ahead and point out our attachment points in the frame. We have three on the driver side and two on the passenger side.
The forward fastener on the driver side will be a ten-millimeter bolt and inaudible tooth washer. The other four attachment points will all be a 12 millimeter bolts with inaudible tooth washers. Now, before we attempt to install our fasteners, we're going to want to clean out the threads of each of the attachment points. To do this, well take a little spray lubricant and spray down each of the well nuts in the frame. Then take our half-inch nylon tool brush, part number, 814092 and thoroughly clean out the threads that can build up with dust, dirt, and debris.
Quick tech tip, I also recommend to take one of the new fasteners and go ahead and thread it into the well nut just to make sure itll go nice and easily. Now, we're ready to go ahead and install the hitch. It's a good idea to get an extra set of hands to help you hold the hitch in place while you install your fasteners. Now, with all our fasteners installed finger tight, we can go ahead and run them down. With all our fasteners secured, well now go ahead and tort to specification as indicated in the instructions. Well go ahead and take the two cable or zip ties that are provided with our install kit and secure the rear fascia to the hitch. We can go ahead and reinstall the exhaust. And with that completed, this will complete the install of our Draw Tide Hitch, part number, 75647 on our 2010 Nissan Murano.
