Today we are working on a 2010 GMC Sierra. Well be installing a Curt hitch part number 13322. Here are a couple of measurements that will assist you in selecting accessories for your new hitch. From the center of the pin hitch hole to the outer most part of the bumper is approximately 2 inches, and from the top of the receiver tube to the ground is 19 inches. This will assist you in selecting accessories such as a draw bar, a bike rack, or a cargo carrier. Now lets go ahead with the installation.
First we are going to get up under the vehicle and take a look at our mounting points. Our fastening points here on this vehicle is going to be forward fastening point will be this hole here, Im going to remove this bolt, and it will be our rear most fastening point on the frame. And then weve also got two threaded points here on the bumper as fastening points. And on the drivers side it will be the same. Alright now before we can put our hitch in place, we need to go ahead and remove this bolt here, thats the one on the drivers side, well do the same thing on the passengers side.
Alright with our bolts removed we can now get our threads prepped to install our hitch. What we want to do here is take a little spray lubricant, we will just spray it up in there around the threads, and Im going to take a nylon tube brush, this is part number 814092, and just use it to clean our threads out and make sure our fasteners go in nice and easily. This application is new since the threads are pretty clean, but if you have an older application, you are going to want to make sure you clean it out thoroughly. We can go ahead and put the hardware in for our forward fasteners on the frame, here we are going to use a block and bolt, we will just drop it through the hole in the frame. With all of our fastening points repaired we can go ahead and put our hitch into place.
Now is a good time to get an extra set of hands to help you hold in place while you install your fasteners. We will be using bolts and conical tooth washers for the weld nuts on the rear fasteners on the frame. The teeth of the conical tooth washer will be facing the hitch. We will be putting our fasteners in hand tightened at this time until we get them all in place. Our rear fastener is going to get a flange nut, and then on our bumper mount we are going to go with the bolt and conical tooth washer again.
Okay thats our three fasteners for the drivers side; I will go ahead and repeat the same process for the passengers side. Now we are ready to go ahead and tighten down our fasteners. With all of our fasteners tightened down we can now go ahead and tork to specifications as indicated in the instructions. Theres the three fasteners on the passengers side, I will complete the same process for the drivers side. That completes our installation of Curt hitch part numbers 13322. .
