Installation of a Trailer Hitch on a 2010 Chevrolet HHR

Today on this 2010 Chevrolet HHR we are going to do an install part number 11447 from Curt. This is what the hitch looks like when its installed in the vehicle. Next well give you some measurements thatll help you out in selecting some accessories such as a bike carrier or a cargo carrier. From the top of receiver opening down to the ground is going to be 10 3 inches and from the center of the hitch pinhole to the outside edge of the bumper will be 5 inches. Now we will show you how the hitch is installed. Our first step is go ahead and lower the exhaust, We will spray down the hangers with some lubricant and go ahead and remove them.

Alright, with the exhaust out of way we can see where the hitch mounts up. We will use this existing hole right here however we have to enlarge it -inch to make it easier run and pull the bolt all the way through. And this will be our access hole and also as an attachment point and this will be identical on both sides. To install our hardware we run our bolt leader to the hole we drilled out and out the access hole. Take your block, thread it in and then well tread on the bolt.

Push it all inside. Now it may help to tilt it head first and then push it in. Now for this attachment hole, we are going to pre-assemble everything outside and then we are going to take everything and push it inside the frame and then pull back out. Were gonna repeat the same process over on the driver side. And now from this point we can go ahead and install the hitch.

Well take the driver side of the hitch lay it on top of the muffler and then push it to the passenger side up to the frame. Well line up the bolts and install the French nuts. Now we can go ahead and snug everything down. With everything tightened down, we will torque down the bolts as specified in the instructions. With all the hardware torqued down, we can go ahead and reinstall the exhaust.

And with that that will finish for our install of part number 11447 from Curt on a 2010 Chevrolet HHR.
