Today on this 2009 Toyota Rav4, were gonna install Hidden Hitch part number 90207. This will also be comparable to the Draw Tite Hitch part number 36490.Here are a couple of measurements that will assist you in selecting accessories for your new hitch. From the center of the hitch pinhole to the outermost point of the spare tire on the back of the vehicle is 7 inches. From the top of the receiver tube to the ground is 11 inches. This will assist you selecting accessories. Now lets go ahead with the installation.Okay, first Im gonna point out the mounting location.
We have two mounting locations on each side. Whatever we point out to you on the driver side is gonna be repeated identically on the passenger side with the exception of the manufacturers tail hook thats on the driver side. This will need to be removed first. Then, our forward mounting location will be here and our rear mounting location will be the rearmost well nut in the frame. A weld nut is a fastening point thats built into the frame by the manufacturer. We have four weld nuts or attachment points for this hitch. Before we try and install our new fasteners into the weld nuts, we want to clean them out.
The one that had a bolt in it will be clean as the bolt will keep it from getting all the dirt dust and debris built up in the threads. Using a little spray lubricant, spray it on the threads then Ill use a -inch nylon tube brush to clean them out. The older the vehicle, the more its gonna take to get these threads cleaned out. After we get the weld nut cleaned out, I recommend taking one of the new fasteners and then thread it up into the weld nut just to make sure its gonna go in nice and easy. As you can see, we can thread that in by hand and now we know were ready to go and install our hitch.
Its a good time to get an extra set of hands to help you hold it in place while you install your fasteners.Quick tech tip: Over on the passenger side, the rear fastener is above the exhaust. You can make it easier to get to if you lower the exhaust. So what we do is you spray down the rubber hanger with some spray lubricant, remove the hanger and make it easier to gain access for that fastener. With all our fasteners in place, we can go ahead and tighten them down. With all of our fasteners tightened down, well go ahead and torque to specifications as indicated in the instructions. With all of our fasteners torqued to specifications, that completes our installation of our Hidden Hitch part number 90207 on our 2009 Toyota Rav4.
