From the top of the receiver opening, down to the ground will be nine and a quarter inches. From the center of the hitch pinhole to the outside edge of the bumper will be seven inches.
Now, well go ahead and show you how the hitch is installed. First off, well go ahead and show you where the hitch mounts up to the vehicle. This will match up to your hole that's existing right here. It also has a cutout for this bolt here where it's not used. Further up onto the frame, well have to drill a hole.
We're looking at the drivers side. This is will identical on the passenger side. We're going to go ahead and start installing hardware. Well be using the small carriage bolt and block that fits it. We're going to install on the other side of the panel.
There's a pull wire that comes with it but sometimes it's just a little bit easier to push it through and hold it. Put your square block and round hole on there. You can take this to frame to keep them in place or it can run a rubber band around the bolt. Just going to keep tension on it so it doesnt go anywhere. Just why don't we go ahead and install the hitch.
You want to have an extra set of hands to hold it up. We can reach behind the bolt, keep tension on it while you push the hitch on. Then install the conical washer and nut. Now, it's going to be a tight fit sometimes. Make sure the hitch is all the way over to one side so you have enough room to install the washer. With our hardware loosely installed, well go ahead and snug it down so well put our hitch in the right spot so we can drill out our next hole. Now, we can use the hitch as a template to drill a hole. Well use a half-inch bit to block our center and well drill a pile hole first with quarter-inch bit and then go at it with a half-inch side bit. Now, we can go ahead and install our hardware. Well take the bolt leer, it becomes with a kit. Put it through the whole and out the access hole right here. Well take a three-inch long block, push it down to the boat leer. Then well take our half-inch carriage bolt. Thread it onto the bolt leer and push it in as well over and out the bottom. Then well install a lock washer and nut. Now, we're going to leave this loose and repeat the some process back over on the passenger side. With all our hardware installed, well go ahead and tighten down the bolts, then torte them down as specified in the instructions. With that, thatll finish for install of part number 36479 from Draw-Tite, on our 2009 Chevrolet Malibu.
