Today on our 2008 Dodge Nitro, were gonna install part number 13334 from Curt. This is what the hitch looks like when its installed on the vehicle. Next well give you some measurements that will help you out in selecting accessories. From the center of the hitch pinhole to the outside edge most of the bumper looks like about 2 inches and from the top of the receiver tube to the ground were looking at 17 inches. Now well go ahead and show you how the hitch is installed. First thing we need to do is go ahead and remove this bolt right here.
Alright Now our next step is go ahead and clean out the threaded hole that the hitch will attach to. Now were looking at the driver side and theres three identical threaded holes on the passenger side as well. So to clean this out were going to spray these down with some lubricant and were gonna use a factory bolt to make sure the threads are clean. Now the older the vehicle gets, the more dirt and debris thats gonna be in there. So you may have to use a tube brush to help clean it out.
For worst case scenario use a thread tap. Lets go ahead and move to the passenger side and repeat the same process. Now at this point well go ahead and install the hitch. You definitely want to have an extra set of hands to help you out while you hold the hitch up and install the hardware. Well keep everything loose til we have all our bolts installed.
When you install the conical tooth washers, make sure that the teeth are point towards the hitch. With all our hardware installed, now we go ahead and snug hem down then well torque the bolts down as specified in the instructions. Now thats all it takes to install the hitch and there you have it for part number 13334 from Curt on our 2008 Dodge Nitro. .
