Today on our 2007 Chrysler Pacifica, we're going to install draw tight hitch, part number 75522. Here are a couple measurements that will be useful when selecting accessories for your new hitch. From the center of the hitch pin hole to the outermost point of the bumper is three inches, and from the top of the receiver tube to the ground is 11 inches. Now let's go ahead with our installation. As for the instructions, we've gone ahead and removed the spare tire ease of installation. Before we can begin installing the hitch, we'll need to lower the exhaust.
To do this, we're going to put a safety strap underneath to make sure it doesn't fall too far. Next, with this application having dual exhaust, we'll need to remove the four isolators holding the mufflers in place; there's two on each side. To do this, we'll use a little spray lubricant on each isolator, then you can use a project wire screwdriver or if you have any exhaust hanger removal tool. And that is the muffler on the passenger's side; I'll repeat the same process on the driver's side. Now with our safety strap, holding exhaust, we're going to go ahead and let it down a little bit.
This will give us working room. Next we'll need to remove the forward bumper bracket bolt on each side. This will get replaced with new hardware when we install the hitch. Each step we do here on the passenger's side will be repeated identically on the driver's side. Next we need to install the forward fasteners.
To do this, we'll use the pull wire provided with our install kit to pull a half inch block, and half inch carriage bolt into position using the access hole here in the side of the frame, beat our pull wire through it, slide on our block, and then thread on our bolt. We'll feed our block into the frame and then our bolt behind it, pull them both into position. Next we're ready to go in and put our hitch in place. As we put our hitch in place, we'll be installing a half inch flat washer on the forward fasteners. This will help to make up the difference from the bumper bracket that will be sandwiching between the hitch and the frame.
The forward fastener pieces will be a conical tooth washer with the teeth of the washer facing the hitch and then the half inch nut. Our rear fasteners in the lower part of the frame is going to be a new bolt and also a conical tooth washer. Again, the washer will face the hitch. Now--it's a good idea to get an extra set of hands to help you hold the hitch in place while you install your fasteners. Now we'll need to add an additional two fasteners to the side of our hitch through the frame. We'll be using the half inch block and the half inch carriage bolt just as we did to the forward fasteners. Taking our pull wire, we can go through the attachment point, and this time we'll go down through the access hole in the bottom of the frame. I'll go ahead and slide my block onto the pull wire and then thread on my bolt. All right, now we'll go ahead and remove the pull wire and we'll secure the bolt with a lock washer and nut. Now we can go ahead and repeat the same process on the driver's side. Now with all our fasteners installed, we'll go ahead and tighten them down. All right, now with all the fasteners tightened down, we'll go ahead and thwart the specifications as indicated in the instructions. Now with all our fasteners thwarted to specifications, we can go ahead and reinstall the exhaust. And with that, we can go ahead and remove the safety strap and that will complete of our draw tight hitch, part number 75522, on our 2007 Chrysler Pacifica.
