Toyota Sienna Trailer Hitch

Installation of a Trailer Hitch on a 2005 Toyota Sienna

install-triler-hitch-2005-toyota-sienna-v82700 Today on this 2005 Toyota Sienna we are going to be installing Valley Hitch part number V82700. Before we get started with our hitch installation, we are going to go ahead and show you a couple of the final install dimensions which are going to help make choosing your hitch accessories a little bit easier. From the top of the receiver tube opening to the ground is going to measure 11-1/4 inches, and from the center of the pin hole to clear the rear edge of the bumper is going to measure approximately 6 inches. Now lets go ahead and move on to installation. Starting off up underneath the vehicle here we want to go ahead and point out the mounting holes where we are going to be using to install the trailer hitch. Looking over here at the drivers side frame rail, at the rear most section of our frame we have two existing weld nuts here, and if you follow forward theres a third existing weld nut, and we will be using those three for our attaching points for our trailer hitch, and its actually going to be the same on the passengers side of the vehicle as well.

One thing we want to do before we actually install the hitch is go ahead and clean out each one of our weld nuts. To do that we just want to take a spray lubricant, and go ahead and spray that into the weld nut, and then we just want to go ahead and take a wire brush like the one Im showing here, and go ahead and run that in there. The weld nuts in the Toyota Sienna are notorious for being difficult to get the bolts started in, and any vehicle that has seen at least one winter is going to have an addition of corrosion and road grime built up in there. What you can do is take the newly provided 12 mm bolt, and just give it a quick test fit into the weld nut. See if it is going to start for you and thread correctly.

If not go ahead and repeat the process, and again we want to go ahead and do this for each one of the weld nuts. Again we are going to be using new 12 mm bolts that are supplied, and we are going to be adding to that as well the conical tooth washer. I do want to note over here in the passengers side on some models the exhaust could be in the way and make it difficult to get the bolts started in the weld nuts or even get the hitch up into position, and if you are having difficulty you can go ahead and remove the exhaust off of its rear most hanger. To do that again we are going to take and spray the lubricant, and spray down the studs, and then we could use a pry bar, pair of pliers, or Im actually going to be using an exhaust hanger removal tool here. We can now go ahead and put the hitch up into position.

Were going to go ahead now and tighten each one of the bolts down, and then with the bolts snugged down were going to go back through and tork each one down. You just want to verify with the directions the specific tork rating for each of the bolts. With the bolts torked down, if you had lowered your exhaust off the hanger earlier, make sure you put it back up into place. That will conclude the installation of Valley Hitch part number V82700 on a 2004 toyota Sienna. .
