Today on this 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix, we're going to install Part # 90993 from Hidden Hitch. First thing we need to do is go ahead and detach 5 rubber exhaust hangars, the two hangars at the end of the exhaust on each side and in the one hangar going towards the front. Before we lower our exhaust, we'll also use a strap to hold exhaust once we have it in its lower position. We'll spread down our hangars with some lubricant to make it a little easy to remove. Then we'll use a prior tool and a small piece of wood to remove the hangars and then we'll lower the exhaust slowly. Now you see here on the front we have three holes.
The two holes on the outside will be the holes at the hitch use to attach to the vehicle and the center hole will be our access hole. This will be identical in both sides of the vehicle. Right now, we're looking at the passenger side. Next we'll go ahead and install the carriage bolts and blocks into the frame rails through the access holes. When we install our hardware, we'll go ahead and use our bolt lead to run thru the hole that we're going to use and then out the access whole.
We'll throw down our block first, push it in the frame then we'll throw down the bolt and pull that on thru the frame and not the hole. We're going to repeat this process for the remaining three holes. At this point, we can go ahead and lift up the hitch in position; you just need an extra set of hands to help work it off in there. Now we're going to install the hitch on to the bolts and we're just going to use a couple of nuts just to hold it in place. Before using the hitch of a template to mark the holes that we need to draw out inside of the frame.
We'll use a spray paint to mark it then it will take the hitch back down. With our holes drilled, we'll put the hitch back into place. Then we'll install our hardware. Install the hex bolts and lock washers to the side of the frame rail into the handler assembly that will install thru the end of the frame rail. Then we'll go ahead and tighten the bolts down and then torque the bolts as specified in the instructions.
Then we can go ahead and reinstall the exhaust. With that, it will finish the install for Part # 90993 from Hidden Hitch on our 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix.
