Today on our 2003 Toyota RAV4, we'll be installing the Hidden Hitch, part number 60938. This is what our hitch will look like once it's installed. Next, we'll go ahead and give you a couple of measurements to assist you in selecting accessories for your new hitch. From the center of hitch pin hole to the outermost edge of the rear spare tire is 11 inches. From the top of the receiver tube to the ground is 15-1/2 inches. This will help you in selecting accessories such as a bike rack or cargo carrier.
Now, let's go ahead with the installation. Next, we'll go ahead and point out our attachment points. Here are two attachment points on the driver's side. It will be identical for the two attachment points on the passenger's side. Next, we'll go ahead and clean out the weld nuts.
To do this, we'll use a 1/2-inch nylon tube brush, part number 814092 and some spray lubricant. First, we'll spray it down and then clean out the weld nuts to break up any dirt, dust and debris that might build up over time. All right, now that we have the weld nut cleaned out, I'll even go ahead and take one of the new bolts and thread it in to make sure it will go nice and easily. Once we complete this for all four weld nuts, we're ready to install the hitch. To install the hitch, we'll use the new hardware, the 12-mm bolt and the 1/2-inch conical toothed washer with the teeth of the washer facing the hitch.
All right, let's go ahead and put our hitch in place. We'll take all four fasteners and screw them in finger tight and then we can go ahead and tighten them down. Next, we'll go ahead and torque each fastener to specifications as indicated in the instructions. And that does it for the install of Hidden Hitch, part number 60938 on our 2003 Toyota RAV4.
