Speaker 1: Today on the 2003 BMW X5, we're going to install part number, 75492 from Draw Type. And heres what the hitch will look like once its installed. Next, well give you some measurements thatll help you out in selecting some accessories for your new hitch, such as a ball mallet, a black rack, or a cargo carrier. From the top of the receiver tube to the ground we're looking at 19 inches. And from the center of the hinge pinhole, the outer most point of the bumper is going to be 4 inches. Now, well show you how it's installed.
Our first step will be to remove the bumper cover. Therell be two fasteners above the exhaust as well as two fasteners on the inside of the fender wheels that well have to remove to do this. Well also remove the center panel from the bumper cover here, which just pulls off. First, well move the bolts at the fender wheel. Well move on to the bolts above the exhaust. You can see that there's a trim ring around the exhaust, which well remove to gain access to the bolt.
Now, we can remove the bumper cover. Well just pull straight back. Itd be a good idea to get an extra set of hands to make sure it doesnt fall. With the bumper cover removed, we next need to remove the six fasteners here. Next, well go underneath the vehicle to the cross number where well make mark.
Well be drilling here. Well measure about an eighth of an inch from the front and use the straight edge to make a line. Next, we will temporarily mount the hitch, placing these spacers in the connection points. Then well install the hitch with the new provided hardware. With our hitch into position, well go back underneath the vehicle and you can see where a line we made earlier. Well use a half-inch drill bit to mark our hole for center.
Then well drill it out using a quarter inch bit. Then well drill it out to a half-inch bit. Then well remove the hitch and then drill it out to an 11/16ths. Now, well reinstall our hitch, adding spacers to the rest of the connection points. Well run the bolts in just enough so we can move the hitch around if necessary. Now, we're going to install our rivet nut into our drilled hole underneath. Well use our bolt and our inaudible washer with the inaudible of the washer facing the hitch. And then between the hitch and the frame temporarily well place the flat washer and lock washer and run them all together. Well then hold the hitch up and tighten down the bolt down to about 45-foot pounds to set the rivet in place. Once this is done, well take out the bolt and remove the flat washer and lock washer. Now, well reinstall the bolt and inaudible washer. Again, making sure the inaudible washer face the hitch. We will then tighten and torch the bolts down as specified in the instructions. Before we reinstall our bumper cover, we need to make a cutout for our hitch. The hitch will fit right between these two guides right here. The instruction don't give you a measurement to go by. So well make a cutout thats going to be about 2 3/4 inches wide and about four inches in length. Well just make our marking on the plastic and cut it out. In this instance, well be using a pair of ten sets to make our cuts. With that done, well go ahead and test out our bumper cover, making sure your measurement for our cutout is accurate. In this case, when add about a half inch to the height. So well take the bumper cover off and cut out a little bit more and then reinstall it. And there you have it for part number, 75492 from Draw Type on our 2003 BMW X5.End of Audio Duration: 3:48 minutes FoxTranscribeSteuart Tower, 1 Market St, Ste 500, San Francisco, CA 94105t: 800-225-6124, service@foxtranscribe.com Filename: .txt www.foxtranscribe.com Page 1 of 2Order #: TC0240393127 .
