Today on our 2005 Dodge Dakota, well be installing the Timbren Suspension Enhancement System, part number TDDR05. Before we begin installing our new Timbrens, well first need to remove the old or manufacturers bump stop. To do this, well remove the fasteners securing it in place, tilting it down away from the frame and unhooking it out of the frame. Well go ahead and set the old bump stop aside as it will not be reinstalled. However, do hang on to the fastener as well use it with the new hardware. Now that we have the manufacturers bump stop out, we need to go ahead and take the weight off the rear suspension.
Since we have ours up on a lift well go ahead and raise the body of the vehicle. Now, well go over to the bench and assemble our new Timbren spring. Well take the upper bracket which has a threaded nut built-in, the Aeon spring with a built-in washer and our bolt running it through the washer up through the Aeon spring and into the upper bracket. Once we have it installed, well can go ahead and tighten it down. Just as we removed the old bump stop, well install our new Timbren.
Putting the hook into the frame and then swinging the bracket up against the frame securing it with the manufacturers fastener we removed previously. Now with that done, we need to assemble and secure the lower fastener. Well take the lower fastener bracket and feed it over the axle and into position. Then we can take the lower bail clamp, slide it up over the lower fastener and secure it with a flat washer and lock nut. And well go ahead and repeat the same process on the drivers side.
We can go ahead and put the weight of the vehicle back down onto the suspension, bring our Timbrens into normal resting position. And that will complete the install of our Timbren Suspension Enhancement System, part number TDDR05 on our 2005 Dodge Dakota.
