Today on our 2009 Kia Sportage, we'll be test fitting the Thule Vertex Four-Bike Carrier, part number TH9029. Now to begin our test fit, we'll simply slide the bike rack shank into the hitch, line up the hitch pin hole, and install our anti-rattle bolt. With our bolt tight, our bike rack is secured to the vehicle. Now we'll go ahead and give you a few measurements. Our ground clearance at the bike rack is 10 3/4 inches and from the closest point of the bike to the back of the vehicle is an inch and a half. Now we'll go ahead and pull the hitch switch at the bottom of the bike rack mast.
We'll tilt the mast down out of the way and open our cargo door. And as you can see, we can gain full access to the cargo area, opening the door completely with this bike rack. Next, we'll pull the hitch switch at the top of the bike rack mast to bring out the dual arms where we can undo the straps exposing our cradles. We'll place the bike into the cradles and bring the straps around, securing it to the bike rack. And there you have it, our bike is loaded and we're ready to hit the road.
And that completes our test fit of the Thule Vertex Four-Bike Carrier, part number TH9029, on our 2009 Kia Sportage.
