Today, on our 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan, we will be test fitting the Thule T2 platform style 2 bike carrier for 2 inch hitches, part number TH916xtr. Now, to begin our test fit, we will simply slide the bike rack shank into the hitch, line up the hitch pin hole and install and tighten down our anti-rattle bolt. Now that our bolt is tight, our bike rack is secured to the vehicle. We will now go ahead and give you a few measurements. Our ground clearance at the bike rack is 10 inches and from the closest point of the bike rack to the back of the vehicle is 1/4 inch. We will now go ahead and pull the switch on the platform to tilt the platform down.
We can then open our cargo door and as you can see, we can gain full access to the cargo area, opening the door completely. We are now almost ready to load our bike. We will need only to make sure our front wheel clamp is fully extended and that our rear wheel strap is undone and out of the way. We can then place the bike on our bike rack and bring our front wheel clamp up and clamp it just in front of the front brake caliper. We will then move to the rear wheel where we will put the strap through the wheel and secure it on the other side.
And there you have it, our bike is loaded and we are ready to head on down the road. Another great feature of the Thule T2 is it's ability to tilt down, out of the way with your bike loaded to allow for cargo access. After pulling the pin, we will pull the switch to allow the platform to tilt down. We can again, open our cargo door. Now, depending on your bike configuration, there may be some interference from the handlebars so you may want to keep that in mind when loading your bike.

We'll thread in our anti-rattle bolt and tighten it down using a wrench. Next, we'll go over a handful of clearance measurements. Overall, we've added about 21 inches of length to the rear of our vehicle.

Today on our 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan, we'll be test fitting the Yakima StickUp 2 Bike Hitch Mounted Folding Bike Rack for both 1-1/4-inch and 2-inch hitches, part number Y02420. To begin our test fit, we'll make sure that our included adapter is attached to the bike rack shank. We'll now slide the bike rack shank into the hitch, line up the hitch pin hole and install and tighten down our anti-rattle bolt. That will secure our bike rack to the vehicle. We'll now go ahead and give you a few measurements. Our ground clearance at the bike rack is 10 inches and from the closest point of the bike rack to the back of the vehicle is 2-1/2 inches.
