Thule T2 Platform Style Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2007 Toyota Prius

Review of the Thule T2 Platform Style Hitch Bike Rack on a 2007 Toyota Prius

Today on our 2007 Toyota Prius, we'll be test fitting the Thule T2 platform style bike carrier for inch 1/4 hitches, Part #TH917XTR. To begin our test fit, we'll slide the bike rack shank into the hitch, line up the hitch pin hole and install and tighten down our anti rattle bolt. With the bolt tight, our bike rack is secured to the vehicle. Now we can go ahead and give you a few measurements, our ground clearance is 10 1/2 inches and from the closest point of the bike rack platform to the back of the vehicle is 2 inches. We'll now go ahead and unfold the bike rack platform to gain cargo access. As you can see, we can gain full access to the cargo area opening the door completely.

With the platform down, we are now almost ready to load our bike. Well need only to make sure that our front wheel clamp is fully extended and out of the way, well also make sure that the rear wheel strap is undone and out of the way. We can then place the bike into the carrier and bring our front wheel clamp up it just in front of the front brake caliper. We can then move to the rear wheel strap where we'll put the strap thru the wheel and clamp it down. And there you have it, our bike is loaded and we're ready to hit the road.

Another great future of the Thule T2 platform style bike carrier is its ability to fold down when loaded for cargo access. We'll pull the pin here at the front of the platform and then pull the handle releasing the bike rack to tilt it down. We can then again open our cargo door. That will complete our test fit of the Thule T2 platform style bike carrier, Part # TH917XTR on our 2007 Toyota Prius.
