Review of the Thule T2 Platform Style Hitch Bike Rack on a 2007 Honda Pilot

Speaker: Today we have with us the 2007 Honda Pilot and well be test fitting the Thule T2 Platform style bike rack part number th916xtr. To mount the bike rack to our vehicle well insert the shank of the rack into the receiver tube and line up the hitch pin holes. Once weve done that well start threading in our anti rattle bolt and then tighten it down with a three quarter inch wrench, finally securing it with a lock on the other side. Next well take some clearance measurements. When folded up weve got about an inch and a half between the furthest point of our vehicle and the closest point of the bike rack. Weve got about 14 and a half inches of ground clearance from the bottom of the rack to the ground.

Overall weve added about 15 inches of length to the rear of our vehicle. Next well check for rear vehicle access. Well fold the carrier down and open the hatch of our Pilot making sure that we can still access the cargo area. Now were ready to load a bike. Well open the ratcheting arm on the tray closest to the vehicle and open the wheel strap as well.

Well pick up our bike and set it in place in the rack. We'll use the ratcheting arm to secure the bike by the wheel just ahead of the brake caliper and then well move back and use the wheel strap to secure the rear wheel. With that our bike is all loaded up and were ready to hit the road. With the T2 we can also tilt the bike rack down with the bike loaded and well check to see if we can still access our cargo area even with the bike still on the vehicle. That does it for our test fit of the Thule T2 Platform-style bike carrier part number th916xtr on our 2007 Honda Pilot.
