Review of the Thule Raceway Trunk Bike Rack on a 2011 Cadillac CTS

Today on our 2011 Cadillac CTS, we'll be test fitting the Thule trunk bike rack part number TH9001. This is a very simple install requiring no tools. We'll simply set the trunk bike rack up as required by the fit instructions. We'll then secure the two upper cables to the deck led between the rear window and the deck led itself. With the upper cables in place, we'll go ahead and pop the trunk to secure the lower cables onto the deck led and with all the cables in the correct location we can simply tighten it down using the ratcheting crank knobs securing the bike rack to the vehicle. And in just those few easy steps, our bike rack is secured to the vehicle and we're ready to load the bike.

Now all we need to do is to unfold the bike rack swing arm and undo the cradle straps to expose the cradles. Now we'll simply place the bike into the cradles and strap it down to the top bar and the C-post and in just those few easy steps, our bike is loaded and we're ready to hit the road and that does it for part number TH9001, the Thule trunk mounted bike rack on our 2011 cadillac CTS.

The best way to guarantee that no damage is done to the vehicle paint is to use a bike rack that does not make contact with the vehicle. A hitch mounted set up will not make contact with the vehicle paint. Check out hitch 24834 or 11496. If a hitch is not an option and a trunk rack is what you need there are some things that you can do to prevent damage to the paint. First, do not leave the bike rack on all the time. Put it on when you need to haul bikes, take it off when you do not. Second, keep the painted surfaces clean. If they are dirty, the rack can rub that dirt and grit into the paint, so keeping the vehicle and rack clean where they contact will help prevent a lot. As far as trunk racks, the Yakima Quickback would be a good choice. Check part Y02621. The pads and hooks on the Thule Gateway are very nice and should not harm the vehicle finish, again so long as you keep things clean. Check part TH9006.

Yakima QuickBack 2 Bike Rack Review - 2011 Cadillac CTS

Today on our 2011 Cadillac CTS, we'll be test fitting the Yakima Quickback 2 trunk mounted bike rack part number Y02621. With our bike rack preassembled, we will first need to pop the trunk with the trunk pop, we can now simply set the bike rack on top of the deck led. We'll position the rubber bumpers so that the flat part is what makes contact with the deck led itself. A quick tech tip, before installing the bike rack make sure that the deck led is clean and maybe even waxed as this will help to protect the finish of the vehicle while the bike rack is installed. With the bike rack on the deck led, we'll simply attach the top cables to the lip of the deck led between the rear window and the deck led itself with the top tube nylon straps hooked into the deck led, this will hold the bike rack into place. We'll now go ahead and take the lower straps and attach them to the deck led.
