Review of the Thule Helium Hitch Bike Rack on a 2003 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

Today on our 2003 Ford Explorer Sport Trac we'll be testing the Thule Helium Aluminum 2-Bike Carrier, part number TH970xt. Now to begin our test-fit we'll slide the bike rack shank into the hitch, line up the hitch pin hole and install the attached hitch pin. We can then move to the back of the shank where we'll tighten the knob down, securing our bike rack to the vehicle. We can now go ahead and give you a few measurements. Our ground clearance at the bike rack is 13 1/4 inches and from the closest point of the bike rack to the back of the vehicle is 4 1/2 inches. We'll now go ahead and pull the hitch switch at the bottom of the bike rack mast to allow the mast itself down.

We can then open our tailgate. Next we'll pull the switch on the top of the mast to bring out the dual arms where we'll undo the straps, exposing our cradles. We'll set the bike into the cradles and bring the straps around, securing our bike to the bike rack. And there you have it. Our bike is loaded and we're ready to head on down the road.

And that completes our test-fit of part number TH970xt, the Thule Helium Aluminum 2-Bike Carrier on our 2003 Ford Explorer Sport Trac.
