All right, today on this 2012 Hyundai Elantra, we're going to do a test fit of part number TH990XT from Thule. This is the Thule Doubletrack Platform Style Bike Carrier. A few things to know about this bike rack that it will work with 1-1/4-inch receiver hitches both class 1 and class 2 and this will also work with 2-inch receiver hitches with 2-inch receiver hitches with the included spacer. On this car, we'll be working with a class 1 receiver hitch. We'll start off our test fit by installing the anti-rattle bolt, tightening it down, and then we'll put the lock on the other side. Okay, with the bike rack installed, let's go ahead and get some clearance measurements.
From the bike rack to the bumper looks like 2 inches of clearance. All right, let's go ahead and unfold the bike rack and get one more measurement. It looks like ground clearance at the very back of the rack will be 14-1/2 inches. Now, we can go ahead and check access to the trunk. All right, that looks good.
Now, we'll go ahead and load up the bike. First thing we'll do is make sure that the straps of the wheels are out of the way and that the clamps for our center post are ran to the very top. It also helps to bring the center post up just a little bit. When we load up our bike, we'll put the wheel into the wheel wells and then lean the bike out of the way a little bit to bring the clamp up and over the seat. Then we'll clamp it down onto the top tube and then we can go ahead and run the straps through the wheels.
That's what it takes to load up the bike. With that, that will finish it for our test fit of part number TH990XT from Thule on our 2012 Hyundai Elantra.

With the cradle arms folded down we've added about 18 inches to the overall length of the vehicle. We can now pull the black lever at the top of the mast to swing the cradle arms out and for the vehicle's rear bumper to the end of the cradle arms we've added an additional 36 inches to the overall length of the vehicle. Now with this bike carrier you can access the trunk of the vehicle with the mast in its upright position or you can pull the black lever at the base of carrier to tilt the mast down to be able to load larger cargo easier.
