Today, on our 2011 Kia Soul, we will be test fitting part number TH990XT. This is the Thule Double Track platform style 2 bike carrier for both 1-1/4 and 2 inch hitches. Now, to begin our test fit, we have already removed our included adapter for the 2-inch hitch so we will go ahead and slide our bike rack shank into the hitch, line up the hitch pin hole and install our anti-rattle bolt. With our bolt tight, we will put the lock on the other side which will secure our bike rack to the vehicle. Now we will go ahead and give you a few measurements. Our ground clearance at the bike rack is 7 inches and from the closest point of the bike rack to the back of the vehicle is 3/4 inches.
Now we will go ahead and pull the hitch switch at the bottom of the bike rack mast to fold the platform down. We can then open our cargo door, and as you can see, we can gain full access to the cargo area with this bike rack. We are now almost ready to load our bike. We will bring our vertical bar up, making sure it locks into place. We can then make sure the top bar clamps are fully extended.
We will also want to make sure that our wheel cradle straps are undone and out of the way. We can then place our bike into the wheel mounts and bring our top bar clamp down, securing our bike to the bike rack. We will move back down to the wheel mounts, where we will bring the straps through the wheel and secure them on the other side. And there you have it, our bike is loaded and we are ready to hit the road. And that completes our test fit of part number TH990xt, the Thule Double Track platform style 2 bike carrier on our 2011 Kia Soul.
