Alright, today on this 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee, were going to do a test fit of part number TH990XT from Thule, the Doubletrack Platform Style Bike Carrier. A few things to know about this bicycle rack that it will work with 1-1/4-inch receiver hitches both class 1 and class 2 and this will also work with a 2-inch receiver with the included spacer, and thats what well be working with today on this Jeep. Now, well start off our test fit by installing the bike rack into the hitch. Well tighten down the anti-rattle bolt and then install the lock. With the rack folded up, clearance from the bike rack to the bumper is going to be 2 inches. Then well go ahead and unfold the bike rack and get some clearance measurements.
And ground clearance at the back will be 18-1/2 inches. Now, well go ahead and check access to the back of the Jeep. Alright, that looks good. Now, we can go ahead and load up the bike. First thing well do is make sure that the straps are out of the way for the wheel cradles and also that the clamps on the center post are run to the very top.
Well also bring up the center post and leave it up a little slight angle before we load the bike. When we load our bike, well go ahead and put the wheels into the cradles and bring the center post up, and bring the clamp back onto the top tube and make sure its secured at the bottom. And then we can go ahead and run our straps through the wheels. Now, our bike has Aero wheels so on the straps, well go ahead and remove the spacers that are required for smaller or thinner rims. Okay, and thats all it takes to load up the bike.

To mount this bike rack to our vehicle, well insert the shank into the receiver tube of our hitch. Well line up the hitch pin holes and then well thread in our anti-rattle bolt and tighten it down using a wrench. Well slip the lock over the bolt to secure the bike rack to our vehicle. Next, were going to check for rear vehicle access. Well pull the release pins so that we can tilt the bike rack down and away from the vehicle.
