Today on our 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe we're going to be test fitting the Thule Doubletrack Platform-Style 2 Bike Carrier, part number TH990XT. With our vehicle equipped with the 2-inch hitch and our bike rack already preassembled we'll go ahead and slide the bike rack shank directly into the receiver tube of the hitch lining up the hitch pin hole. Then we can install and tighten down the anti-rattle bolt and lock. As you can see, with the anti-rattle bolt tightened down, it really takes out any sway or movement between the bike rack and the vehicle. This is what our bike rack will look like in its stored position. Now we'll go ahead and give you a few measurements.
From the nearest point of our bike to the nearest point of the vehicle is 3 inches. From the lowest point of the end of the bike rack we have 11 inches of ground clearance. And with our bike rack installed in its stored position it adds an additional 10-1/2 inches to the overall length of the vehicle. Next we'll go ahead and put our platform down on the bike rack to see if we can still gain rear cargo access. As you can see with our platform down and our center support arm down we can still gain rear cargo access.
Now let's go ahead and prepare to load up a bike. First, we'll move the center support arm just out of the lock position but still laying down and move the center support post to the top of the center support arm. Then we'll undo the wheel straps so we can set the bike directly into position. After we set the bike into position we'll go ahead and bring the center support arm up into the lock position and bring the center support arm down on the crossbar of the bike. Then we'll reattach the wheel straps.
And just like that in a few simple steps we've gone ahead and secured the bike to the bike rack and the bike rack to the vehicle. And now we're ready to hit the road. That'll do it for our test fit of the Thule Doubletrack Platform-Style 2 Bike Carrier, part number TH990XT on our 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe.
