Alright, today on this 2012 Dodge Journey we're going to do a test fit of Thule Roof Rack System. We will be using a Rapid Crossoad foot pack part number TH450R and the Thule Aeroblades part no. THARB53. Okay. Now we will start off our roof rack already assembled according to instructions so all I got to do is place it on the factory roof rack. The spacing on this roof rack will change according to the different types of accessories you use on top.
So we will place the roof rack onto the factory roof rail. We'll go ahead and take the straps and run it underneath and then we will go ahead and square up the first load bar. Now we will go and measure off an edge on the factory roof rack to the leading edge of our crossroad foot pack and the dimension for this test fit will be 10 inches. Now we will go ahead and make sure that our load bar is even from left to right. And there is also a small arrow on the foot pack, we need to make sure that points into the center of the factory roof pack.
Once the load bar is on the right spot, we can go ahead and move the caps and make sure the straps fit into the clips on the other side. Okay, now we will go ahead and move on to the second load bar repeat the same steps, however, we will measure up the center of the first one to the center of the second one. Now, we're already to set ourdistance apart for this test fit at 28 inches. Alri, ght if our load bars are set in positions we can go ahead and tighten them down. The cover has a tool built into it so you can use it to tighten down the set screw on the inside of the foot pack and the strap will be tied up around the factory roof rack.
And we will alternate going back and forth to make sure the tension is even on both sides. Okay and that is all it takes to install our roof rack and one more note that the roof rack adds about 2 1/2 inches to the height of the factory roof rack. And with that that will finish it for a test fit of a Thule roof rack system on a 2012 Dodge Journey.
